You can start off with reading Kaplan Schweser notes available in the market.A very basic knowledge of finance along with the notes should give u a good start.Later u can register n study from the CFA institute notes that come along.

how one shud rate the kaplan material...begineer,inter or same as CFA institute notes?which are the test cntrs nearer to india?

From what I could research Kaplan notes are at a level lower than CFA institute notes. So from studying point of view that would be better.I wud rate Kaplan notes a bit higher than beginners level.Test centers close to India are Nepal and Sri Lanka.

if we consider the difficulty level then where CFA stands?as CFA is dependent on self study..how much time is required to complete the studies?

i have been preparing for last 1 month .. i have planned ma preparation based on inputs from seniors .. it takes not more than 200 - 250 hours if u study at consistent rate ..depends on person to person..

thanx sir 4 ur advice.................
can u also tell me how can I clarify my doubts

hey folks, I am new to the forum. I want to get your inputs on the why CFA part right now.

Currently I am working as a business analyst in a KPO with significant consulting interface profile. In course of 2 years as an analyst I have come across and used financial terms and calculations spordically and mainly my field is business research and process analysis.

MBA plans are on hold, as my target is top 50 gmat schools for which I need atleast 4+ kick ass exp and good acads. So in all honesty started searching ways to fill up the gap. CFA topped the list (distance MBA is really distant).

Official version is that I have developed some basic understanding of (qualitative) financial modeling - NPV, business case, cash flow analysis - and would like to formalise my learning.

My background is engineering, not from IIT/DCE/NIT/Govt. 😞 and high level understanding of financial terms. Request your inputs on building the case for CFA.

Cheers!!
Jasprit

It won't hurt you if you go through the thread once and get most of your queries answered.
In case you need additional info, you can always ask, but why to ask same questions repeatedly which has already been answered

Hey all,

This is my first post here. Have registered for CFA level 1 june 2010 and currently studying economics from schweser. I think it would be a good idea to create an online discussion group just for discussing problems related to the subjects. maybe a new thread here dedicated to that.

Happy Studying!

CAn anyone tell me how to identify whether it is annuity due or ordinary in TVM sums, cause it is difficult for me to understand if it is not given directly

We should be able to decide the time at which payments are made(beginning of each period or the end of each period). Thats the only way I guess.

I am decideing between FRM dec 2010 or CFA dec 2010 . Can anyone tell me which wud add better weightage to ur resume . Any chances of Dec2010 CFA in India .

thanks
