I am decideing between FRM dec 2010 or CFA dec 2010 . Can anyone tell me which wud add better weightage to ur resume . Any chances of Dec2010 CFA in India .

hmm i may not be that qualified to answer your query.. but i would like to put in my view based on the knowledge which i have (correct me guys if i m wrong..)
it depends on which area of specialization u wanna do both are quite different.. one is risk management and other has more to do with Equity markets.
FRM is some what niche specialization in Finance..the no of opportunities available for FRM are few compared to CFA.. the CFA has higher recognition compared to FRM..
FRM shall find importance on the light of the recessionary causes, but it may take some more years to take off...
these r the broad differences which i m aware.. hope it helps u to fill in ur gaps a little bit

It wud be grt if any1 here cud tell me dis...........Once we register for Cfa exam , are we allowed to change the exam centre at a later point of time(watevr be the reason)??.....

CFA is more of a generalised learning in finance..
FRM is risk management certification ..kinda specific certification...
as said by many veterans, FRM is emerging one where CFA is established one ..
for a person interested in asset management and hedge funds , he need not think about FRM ..
one more thing - AFAIK, FRM is full of quants ..if u r not good at maths , forget abt FRM ..
all in all, choose the exam which suits u and which can help u in the long run .. think of question why CFA ? or why FRM ? before u register for it.. lot of research to be done

Cn sum1 please tell me that are we alllowed to change the test centre once we register and enroll for the exxam....and if yes , how many days b4 the exam date are we allowed to change the test centre choice..... According to my knowledge you can request for a test center change upto 75 days before exam date and i guess you cannot change the center within the same metropolitan area.
while studying syllabus, there are some questions like Form 16 k, Form Q 6, 12b-1 for mutual fund. This questions are specific for america or SEC. are such types of questions from exam point of view????
Modules from CFA institute and Sch notes, many topics are missing from sch notes, aren't they imp from exam point of view or sch notes have removed junk data????

dont leave anything from the CFA module if some things are not there in schewer and other notes, do read them from the CFA curriculum because apart from the areas marked optional, i dont think any topic is there which can be considered 'junk' with respect to the exam

1 >> It takes about 2 weeks for the material to reach you if you are in one of the major cities, although the time taken may vary case to case.
2 >> I cleared Level1 exam in June last year and studied primarily schweser. Schweser is concise but not in depth, so if you have a good finance backgroud already then go for schweser or else institute books are good enough.

Hey is Bangalore a center?? The list of centers on the CFA website doesnt say so...
no Bangalore is not a center.. there is no center in India as yet... for the December examination, Mumbai was added last minute through a hearing of the delhi high Court, i guess... so let's hope that this time too, the test is conducted in Mumbai...
ppl, Kathmandu is kind of a gamble cuz the last time, (December), the test at Kathmandu center was cancelled at the last moment due to some unrest/political instability in the city...
