Hi Risin east

Could you please give some light on above mentioned lines. As far as I know, the curriculum (CFA Official Material) comes separately for each level.

Many thanks

Santosh

Hi Santosh
I have already replied to this querry. After clearing level 1, when one registers for level 2, he would be sent a separate set of books for level 2. the same for level 3.
rahulmathur Says
do u guys think there is sufficient time to finish the course if someone starts studying now...i have prior accounting and finance knowledge at my undergrad level.

Hi rahul
I think there is still tym for level 1 preperation. However, be prepared to invest 3-4 on weekdays and more in weekends( that is, if u are working). The course is reasonably big, and one cant skip any chapter. Thats how the exam pattern is designed.

No person with a common sense has joined PG to receive thanks and groans. Every one has done so to share information.

But people like you and dshastry keep spamming the thread with useless messages. Any one visiting the cfa website would have access to the information which you posted. rest apart see how both of you guys post either the same messages which have been posted 2-3 days back or messages which are useless.

Both count as spam so if you are in PG do follow the rules.
Share adequate and relevant informations.
Stop spamming the thread and others' inboxes.

I hope good sense prevails.

I speak no more on this issue

Hey dude.... Its not about groaning or Thanking....

What you did is Reply to a query which is good... But as a follower of the thread a person is required to at least check the last 10 pages or so of the thread to see where the discussion is heading to....
And as your reply has been already posted on the thread it is a mere waste of space... In other words spam.....

If everyone just comes to the last page and post their queries the thread would be unnecessarily long..... So instead of answering the query if U can just ask them to go through the last few pages before putting their querry It wud be good for the thread.....

PS : You can groan at this if u want....

ok so what should i do whenever any person asks query?
1. ask him to read whole thread without knowing whether it has been answered or not
2. take 10 hours to read whole thread and maybe the query hadnt been answered and then i should reply to it :cheerio:

that question was very relevant to current situation becoz just hours ago there was a mail from CFA in which they had mentioned risks about centre in Kathmandu
now in such an emergency situation if i dont answer him when i myself know that CFA had answered me same query and instead i ask him to read whole thread, would it do any good?

Thank you !!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Guys,

:) Good to know about IAIP (Indian Association of Investment Professionals)

I know I am spamming here....Still

I know Reading the whole thread is impossible.... And I just told going through the last few pages(10 to be precise)...
And considering that the issue is pretty new and relevant he/she is sure to find in the last few pages(4-5)... which is readable and which MUST be done by any user instead of blankly putting up each and every query....

PS : Rules are the same as my last post....
PPS : Just see that the things you post are Relevant and Not Repetitive...

Hi Folks,
I wrote to CFA about the uncertainity of exam being held in Kathmandu. I am posting the reply here:

Dear XXXXXXXXXX,

Thank you for contacting us. Unfortunately, at this time, we are unable to predict or advise to what options will be available to candidates if the Nepal exam center is cancelled. Rest assured, we will update you if new information becomes available.

Feel free to contact me again if you have any other questions.

Hi Amit,

If you want some suggestions from seniors who have passed Level-1, post your query in the following thread, they will reply. I did the same..(you can refer some of my post too in there)
http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/career-discussions/38227-cfa-level-1-december-2009-a-65.html#post1871243

Yeah, I have seen some examples in India, getting jobs just after completing Level -1. One of my friends end up working as a Business Analyst with a multinational just after MBA(Finance)+ CFA Level 1, an year ago.
In USA people can get entry level investment jobs just after completing CFA L-1, better jobs after and Level-2 and Level-3. but you will get charter only after 4 years relevant experience. Scenario is same with the UK for investment and banking industry. Singapore and other Asian financial markets value CFA qualification as much as in India. So after being CFA charter holder, you would be very confident in terms of better job opportunities, investment field is yours and of-course at global level.

Hope this helps

This is something that has been discussed over and over again ..

There is no such thing as a salary range for L1 because no one will make a hiring decision just because you are doing the CFA program. It depends on your background .
To make it more simple from a recruiters point of view the salary they are prepared to offer will depend on :

1. Your Work experience ( if not 1 then 2)
2. Your Educational background
3. Your progress in the CFA course

In the above list 1>2 >>>>3 .With nothing to show in points 1 &2 you will not get any decent job till you complete all 3 levels .

For ppl with no workex /relevant workex point 2 becomes important ,then a L1 may land you a decent job -for ex I Banks taking IIT/IIM grads in profiles like Structuring/Equity Research so the hiring decision is based on your educational background and a L1 sets you apart from the pool of IIT/IIM ppl applying nothing more . The L1 in itself will do no wonders.

The L2 may land you with a KPO and L3 in a Front end position with a bank, but by the time you complete L3 you would most probably be in the finance field so point 1 becomes more important.

As regards someone with software exp passing L1 you sal will depend on the kind of role you are looking at .If you go in as a Analyst who needs to program a lot but also needs a little bit of fin knowledge then you command a good salary but if you move into a pure fin role then be prepared to start at the bottom in terms of salary and work profile unless point 2 is very strong.

The bottom line is CFA is not that useful for career changers but more useful for career enhancement . For a career change the oldest and most trusted tool is still the MBA.
