Depreciation ( which is from Non Current assets ie PPE) it gives you DTA/DTL in non current assets,/liab 2. Some item from current a/l (dont know any specific) it gives you a DTA/DTL in ca/cl
Temporary Differences: They arise due to differences in accounting standards(eg: Financial accounting using straight line depreciation vis-a-vis ddb in tax accounting)
Valuation allowance needs to be made as a contra account to show for unrealized loss on DTA.

This is wht I interpreted from the the glossary on backside pages regarding deferred tax assets and libilities.
Every company anticipated the amount of profit n based on that estimate amount for tax. Company also make payment for tax in advance, we can call it prepaid taxes. But there is always difference between estimation and actual profit.
Now, if prepaid taxes based on estimation exceeds actual profit, then company can carry them into assets and recover it in next financial year. And if prepaid taxes turns below actual taxes so it should be carried as deferred liability in next financial year. Am I right?

1.CFA person works in financial research and analysis stuff. It is possible to work along with job. Many have done.
2. Graduation is eligibility to sit for exam, 4 yrs of relevant work experience is needed to get certified. There is no entrance exam for CFA.

4. If u r talking abt ICFAI - CFA, then it is not a right thread for u. It is for CFA (AIMR) i.e. US - CFA. Dont compare it with MBA, b'coz MBA is more diversified course while, CFA is into financial research and analysis. Whereas both are good. Keep it in mind, MBA is a master degree, CFA is certification course.
5. There r many engineers take this course, all u need is analytical skills and most zeal:)

Given your profile, you should go ahead and register for the December 2010 CFA Level 1 Exam. Studying for the CFA Level 1 Exam would not take more than 3-4 months. I have been exactly at your place and taken 3 Levels without much difficulty. Finally, it needs to be emphasised that the CFA Program is for ppl who are already working in Finance so the reasoning of not being able to handle CFA Exams alongside work is not really correct.

See it all depends on your academic background and how smart u are in capturing the syllabus as well, but if you are planning to take this job and study for CFA Level 1 then i would say take a safer side and go for June, 2011. And if you are planning not to take this job and study for CFA Level 1 then go for December, 2010. The CFA Level 1 is not that difficult but the only point is volume, the syllabus is damn vast and interesting as well. So do not study or do not prepare for CFA Level 1 just to clear the exam but learn everything logically, it will help u in two ways, first u would be able to clear ur exam that is for sure and second u will be able to apply that theortical knowledge in practical market.
And a very important suggestion as i always say just try to finish ur syllabus a month before ur exam and try to solve as many mock paper as u can.
