CFA Level 1 June-2010

We can just hope they add, that has been the trend so far. Even if they don't, I am ready to take it at Colombo. There is a centre in Katmandu also. I have selected the one closest to Chennai.

Guys, I prepared with stalla materials. The video and stalla materials are extremely good! I am a non finance guy, if I can clear, believe me it should be a cake walk for you.. Provided, you put in good effort!!!! Remember one important thing pls, the usage of calculator on the exam would be much less than what you guys think midway.

I've just registered for the Dec 2010 level 1 exam and I was hoping some of you who've taken the exam in the past could help answer two rather simple questions..

1. Is 4 months enough time to prepare for the exams (assuming I put in between 15-20 hours of self-study per week)?

2. Is the study material provided by the CFA institute enough to pass the exam or should i supplement/substitute this with other books from Schweser and Stalla?

*I know that this might already have been discussed some where else on the forum but there seem to be 100s of pages of discussion on the CFA...so i figured just asking the questions here would be faster 😃

Please find my answers inline. I completed my level 1 in june 2010.

Yes you can depending upon whether u already were a student or are a new student. If you are totally new to finance, I would suggest do not do it this december. If you are working finance area and know some topics, then 4 months is a good enough time. Remember you would need a 2 weeks break before the exam!

In 4 months you cannot study with cfai provided material. I went for stalla and found their videos wonderful. I used cfai material for ethics.

I have explained the way I prepared here at
CFA Level 1 for Non Finance guys

Congrats for all those ppl who cleared L1

Unfortunately i couldn't . all the efforts that i put in seems waste now. I really had put in lot of efforts (close to 6 months). THere were 2-3 numerical in Quantitative and AI where I forgot the formula it seemed in the exam and my score (Band 10) clearly reflects that (got 50-70 in quantitative section) I regret how i could forget the formula for TVM.

Will reattempt now in june 2011 now if I can!!!
ATB to everyone!!

how are the results of cfa level 1 given?
do we need to clear all sections individually?
do we get results for each individual section separately?
And what is a good score in cfa?

Hi,

It doesn't matter. You can pay with your Visa credit card. The equivalent conversion rate at that moment would be deducted from your account.

is there is any currency conversion fee or any bank transaction fee while registering for cfa with my citi visa card??
pls reply.

hi puys,
i would be registering very soon...
i would be using my citi bank visa card and i need to know whether any transaction fees/ currency conversion fee/ bank fee is deducted or not??
