That's a very strange comment ! And totally incorrect.
Both CFA and FRM are very valid for any kinds of markets - Equity Debt, Forex, Derivatives, Alt Invstt etc etc.

after having a look at CFA
a student like me will definitely hesitate to go for it considering the cost incurred on top of the other running ones

so is there anything else similar to it that can be done in a similar way(related to IB and done through correspondence)by which i can use the year ahead

any specific course from coursera et all

You can take the exam later also.
Fees - check CFAI website. They may vary in the year that you are taking the exam.

For Level 1, Schweser notes are more than sufficient. If time permits, you could Ethics quesiton from CFA books also, and thats about it...
