Hey frnds Ethics of CFA level 2 is exactly the same as it was for CFA Level 1..Not a single new concept...
Newys which subjects are u finding tough..I am getting derivatives a lil tough baki sab manageable hai..
I have read Equity book. I am almost done with FRA (will be able to read it atleast once by this week). The problem is I do not remember anything. I have understood the concept but I do not remember all the formulas. FRA is damn tough - Only the tough parts of L1 have been carried over to L2. I read one chapter in the morning and by evening I forget everything. I think FRA will need more than one revision. I am thinking what to start next...Any suggestions?

Hi, my strategy has been to cover one formula based and one theory based topic to avoid overload and confusion. My suggestion is you can pick up ethics for now as its important and would be quick. Or else you can try economic. You can come back to FRA later.

I have completed one reading of FRA - the complexity of FRA is not because the level of material is tough to understand but because of its sheer formulas and rules which are not intuitive. On almost every page you will have IFRS and GAAP distinction which was really frustrating. Anyways if its difficult for me its the same for everyone else.
I was about to start with Corporate Finance (I am going book wise following Schweser). How much have you completed?
Hello everyone.
I am a Mechanical engineer by qualification. I am not working anywhere currently but will start working this June. I have basic knowledge of finance, financial terms and markets mainly through wikipedia and newspapers.
I have registered for L1 December 2012 exams and studying in full flow.
I have finished reading Book 2(Economics) Schweser once and will have just begun with Book 2(Financial reporting).
I plan to finish with the Schwesers till the end of June. After that, CFA institute E-books, classroom videos and review material.
As I have registered for the December exam, I am rather keen on giving on L2 June 2013 itself.
So I thought I might start studying for CFA L2 while studying for L1 exams and cover a small chunk of my syllabus. Are there any sections in L2 which are mere extensions from L1? Does it sound doable or am I going overboard?
Also, Can I register for L2 before passing L1.(i.e. can I register for L2 before the first deadline without L1 qualification.)
what if I register for L2 and do not clear L1??
What will be the next course of action??
I am really confused!!

For me book one two and three are complete except quant and last two readings of equity. But I am not really doing a lot of calculations on the way.. Anyway derivatives have never been my strong point so I might face the same issue once I hit fra

No you can't register for l2 before you clear l1. So in this case you will be able to register only in Feb. And yes a lot of stuff intact most of it is extension of l1. You can get l2 schweser online and check if you want to read it now but for that you should be clear on all l1 concepts
I am almost done with all the subjects once except 3/4th syllabus of FRA & Ethics (which I think wud be easy)...after that will start with Revision probably from April 2nd week & will solve mock exams till main exams...Just wanna clear L-2 b4 entering into MBA...ATB to every1 else....
PS - I found Quant most tough coz of that regression analysis part as it took me a lot of time to understand it & derivatives wud be next in the line of toughness...

L2 charges are less than L1 because one time enrollment fees is not there. Approx 400K. You can check the CFA website for exact amount and it will also differ based on the exchange rate.

I doubt if 3.2k calci is required even for L-3...i am giving level-2 this June with 2.2k one calci & i am almost done with my syllabus & haven't faced any probs as such with cheaper calci.... even L-3 won't require that costlier calci. i know it as two of my relatives are giving L-3 this june...

I am studying from Schweser only..if i am gonna study from core books then will have to give CFA L-2 in June 2013...
Puys please let me know one thing...........does one need to be in an analyst role in his job and gain experience and then go for CFA or he can have any profile and do CFA.
Do companies take people who were not analysts in their previous job but are doing CFA?
Is CFA as tough as CA?
I mean is the success rate that low?
anybody have schweserpro level 2??
If you have, please let me know.
Thanks
