CFA level 2 June 2012

I am also a level 2 candidate from hyderabad....if interested we can form a study group.

Anybody who is preparing for CFA level1 or cleared plz clear this doubt:

While solving QM schweser notes- i m finding it difficult & time consuming to solve Comprehensive problems behind every chapter.

1st question set behind every chapter is quiet easy n also scoring 90-95% in that but not able to make good in comprehensive...
question is...can i skip that n still score good in exam??

help will b appreciated a lot...

As painful as it is do the comprehensive ones as well. Infact it is recomended you attend all of those problem in the CFA official guide as well but for level 1 do Schweser end to end for sure.

I dont know the pass rates for CA but for CFA the following are the approx numbers:

Level 1: 43%
Level 2: 35%
Level 3: 40%

So if 100 take Level 1 43 pass level 1
Out of these 43 about 15 people pass Level 2
Out of these 15 people 6 people clear Level 3

Is CFA as tough as CA?
I mean is the success rate that low?

CA has lower pass rates, but then also the number of students. Also, I think ICAI keeps changing the pass rate and it can go as low as 4% for CA final

hi all how r the preparations going.

I started with fsa first and completed the material once. butnow not even a single thing i remember. planning to finish all subjects once and then revise all subjects again once. i dont know if i can find time. am so petrified and frightened since i feel i have very short time and lott to read. i am reading from schweser only.
after fra took corporate finance and finished it. then started derivatives. will complete that in two days. my opinion i found fra tough need to be read again fully before going for exam. corporate was ok not so tough easy u can manage. and derivative a little bit tough , not so tough like fra but not too easy too.

pls all post how much completed how to go about for exam etc... am planning to complete once all schweser readings by may 15th ie in a months time then revise once again all subjetcs...

ur opinions and suggestions needed..

thanks

Sailing in the same boat.. CFA L2 requires lots n lots of practice, we need to finish our readings asap so that we can practice questions..

With FRA, i have gone through it twice, but still haven't mastered the concepts.. I think it needs practice too..

I am targeting to finish all material by end of April so that i have 1 month to review and practice.

All the best!!

not a good idea.. basically you are saying that you were getting paid for nothing and your experience is just namesake

when you say not involved in a job do you mean working but ingorant of the job or not working at all. i guess working and being completely ignorant of your job is not a good idea at all. on the other hand, if you are not working and just preparing for CFA then I dont think it sounds too bad provided your break from work is not too long (>1year).

i know of ppl who have taken a year off after graduation and made it to the IIMs and telling the interviewer that they had taken a year off to study for CAT. seems acceptable :). cheers

Buddy I guess you got it all wrong:nono:...........I meant that if one is not doing a job and is just studying for CFA..........now probably I guess it is more evident what I meant...........

ooops..!! my bad

guys, I have seen many candidates asking to focus on end of chapter questions for CFA. Are these the questions at the end of chapters in schweser material or end of chapters in CFA curriculum material? I do not have a printed version of CFA institute materials. Hence asking! BTW, is the 'secret sauce' available yet?

CFA curriculum questions of course the questions in schwesser r just "concept checkers" their difficulty level is far below the actual exam

Secret sauce is available now

A doubt about Intercorporate investments .........An eoq asks how an organisation's net income would be affected if it has control over/significant influence over another org . The first org has a stake of 50%. The answer says that NI is not affected by the accounting method and it is only the disclosure that is different.

.......I don't understand that...NI should be affected....since using equity method(if significant influence) 50% of other org's NI will be added to the first's. And if consolidated(control assumed), entire NI will be added.

Any one care to clarify?

Hi all,

Hope every one is geared up and going at full pace. mine is going okay kind of.. still need to do a lot of study.. putting that aside I have a query reg the schweser full length practice tests..
my first question is
1. Are they good enuf to practice the exam scenario (I know the schweser practice questions in the CD are fabulous. luved dem during level 1 ). If not then suggest me some other full length practice tests. I have tried finstructor for level 1 they were utterly bad.

2. Regarding the official CFA sample test. will they send it to us or do we need to download from the site..? (I have applied for the printed version this time..)

Please do share any other ideas for revision.. some thing like the Q cards or such gud stuff..

is it possible to defer/withdraw from the level 2 june 2012 exam? If yes, then on what grounds and is there any deadline for the same? I couldnt find anything on the website.......

The last date for test center change was 13th April for June exam.
It is surprising you could not see the test center change it is all over there on all relevant pages on exam, test centers and program-calender pages!!

Has any1 got a soft copy of Schweser Question bank for L-2 June 12..pls PM me incase any1 has got it..i will send him/her my mail id..Please do the needful..
