I am finding the level of cfa (institute)book questions at the end of the chapter way to higher then schweser. They look more application based and apt for preperation but on second thoughts the study material of schweser is also as on the same lines and not upto the mark? anyone who has gone through institute material can please clarify?

Guys,

I'm just starting my CFA Level II prep....wanted to reach to the CFA Level II puys for some advice....how should I go about studying and what should I finish off first? I don't think I have too much time left. Any kind advice will really help. Thanks a lot!

PS: I completed CFA Level I in 2010 and didn't take Level II last year.

Man..you give me Hope ! Jokes aside.. get your hands on schweser notes and videos.. i would recommend ONLY to go through them in the time you have.. start with heavy weights first.. equity..fsa ..ethics..these three only should cover 40-50% then u can pick and choose the subjects 😃

Yes, I have both of them...started with FRA which is taking a lot of time...how good is the video series compared to the material?

Videos wont suffice..but they set the mood for the chapter..you will get to know what are important topics in chapters and then u can hit the books..

videos work very well for me. gives me traction for the chapter. but yeah reading is important too. for fra the videos did help me in clearing concepts quickly

so you'll suggest vids prior to reading?...i checked out one vid of intercorporate investments but after reading the topic...the vid was over 2 hours long and I was like 'phew!'....do you'll think checking out all the vids is possible with the limited time at hand, or do you suggest a few topics that are a 'must watch' and leave the rest?

yeah so do it for the stuff you find hard or confusing. I had an issue with one topic in equity - residual income. watched the video and then got down to business. no i dont think checking out all the videos is possible now if you want to read all the notes as well.

im watching and reading simultaneously now. its working well for me. may not work for someone else. to each his own :). on the bright side - if you can put in 10hrs/day now - you will manage to clock 250hrs of study time. the CFAI recommends 300hrs and you are not too far off! Dont lose hope, go for IT!!!

PM me your email id if you are still looking for it. will send it by tomorrow.

puys I know you all might be too busy with your preparation.........all the best for it.........just wanted to ask that how was your experience of Level 1?
Did you guyz do just the schweser notes or cfa books also for every chapter?
Can Level 1 be cleared with schweser only?
How tough or tricky the questions were?

Reply if you are free........Thank you

I did only schweser notes (entire material) and CFA book questions and mock tests. Schweser explains the concepts well for L1
