Unfortunately, i am not appearing for lambda. Hence i will not be downloading lambda papers. In case if i find any friend who will be doing lamba, i will forward his/her details.

As discussed earlier on this thread, the ICFAI study material is more than enough. However, if you have embarked on a quest for gyan gathering, then do read these books.
Financial Mgt: Financial Management- Theory & Practice by IM Pandey Financial Management by Khan & Jain
Quantitative Mgt: Statistics for Management by Levin and Rubin (baap of all)

Time management is key. My friends who failed in a particular group suggested me that it was not that they are weak in studies. The reason being improper time management. As it is a distance learning course just like CA, ICWA, CS one needs to motivate himself/herself at regular intervals. This is the same reason that these threads were created and i think it is serving good purpose.
Workbooks gives you an idea about the kind of questions which can be expected.
Latest CFA prospectus mentions minimum starting of 2.52 lakhs p.a That is a conservative figure. Most of my friends started with 3-3.5 lakhs p.a last year and this year and have been able to find jobs in diverse companies like evalueserve, Mckinsey knowledge centre, ICRA, crisil, credit sussie (mumbai), goldmann sachs (bangalore), kotal securities etc.

Guys, I feel that you should concentrate hell lot on finishing this course. Placements will happen naturally because the course is very well recognised and the ER /KPO-OSER (Outsourced Equity Research) is also expanding like hell.
Hi! I am a new member here and I need some help from you people. I have completed my Post-graduation in Economics in 2005. I have done specialization in 1. Monetary Economics,, 2. Corporate Finance, 3. Interanational finance and 4. Econometric methods. For the whole last year, I was really confusd over my future career path and now decided to go for the CFA from ICFAI. Since you are very experienced in this field, please tell me whether CFA qualification matches with my career path so far or it is a bad decision. Another thing, ICFAI has now been transformed into an university. They are offering two courses... 1. MS Finance (campus program) - offered by ICFAI school of finacial studies. completion of this programwill give a degree from ICFAI university and it is also written in the website that "They are also eligible to receive the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charter from the Council of Chartered Financial Analysts (CCFA), subject to fulfilling the criteria as specified in the Student Handbook. "
and,...
2. MS Finance (flexible learning program) - offered by The ICFAI centre from flexible education. I again quote, "All students who successfully complete the MS (Finance) Program are eligible to receive the CFA Charter and Designation from the Council of Chartered Financial Analysts (CCFA), subject to fulfilling the conditions of membership in CCFA. "
Is the second one, i.e., the flexible course is the original CFA course? Please help. Thanks... Learner_eco

Welcome to the CFA ICFAI thread mate.
CFA will be very useful for you to get in investment banking, mergers and acquistions, merchant banking, equity valuation, derivate or commodity markets.
Both courses are same. The first one is regular course which started 2 years ago only. The first batch passed out this year. The fees for regular one exceeds 4.50 lakha p.a. Refer to prospectus for exact fees.
The second one is distance learning programme.ICFAI started with this course way back in 1984.ICFAI counsellor told me that once you complete the distance learning course, it is not mentioned on your certificate that it is distance learning or regular. You just get MS FINANCE and CFA charter. The basic fees for this course is around Rs 57000
IMO, you should go for distance learning. You can study at your own time, own pace and the fees difference is huge. You are 25, already PG holder and i am sure given your maturity and commerce knowledge you will have no tough time in studying books and cracking exams.
Results for L 1 are out. I am very happy 😃 I started this course decently scoring 64% in alpha.
Examination for july are on 9,16,23 and 30.Registration process (who appeared for april exams) starts may 11. I will suggest every one to regsiter early to get the centre of choice. Later on there can be reshuffling of seats but your centre will remain same.
From july onwards, sigma (case studies) will have seperate papers-4 papers in total.
All the best to everyone for results and also for july exams.
Congratulations for scoring 64% in Group alpha.Good job man.keep it up.
let me ask one question, as we are pursuing cfa course so what kind of job opportunities we can expect at present in the financial bpo's.I think it would definately gonna add some experience to our profile.as this jobs are non voice and related to financial services. and i also want to know the names of such bpo's, where we can look for the job.

Working in financial BPO is a good experience and will add to your profile. In hyderabad, lot of financial BPO there coz of mother tongue influence companies migrate non voice process to south india and voice process to north india.
I heard HSBC recruiting in large number in hyderabad. Have a word with consultant.
Results are out, i cleared beta....institute had sent me the books for gamma just couple of weeks back and just today i got the books for delta too !!....man this is fast !!
I was wondering if one clears the delta group, whould he be qualified enough for a job of equity research, considering SA does focus on it !....or are there more things in subsequent groups one also needs to learn to do that kind of a job ?

Congrats ! Great job. You are lucky if you have got delta books. Normally institute will not send you material this quickly. Take my case. I havent got my beta and gamma material and exams are in july.
You are not allowed to write like L 2 CFA or L 1 CFA. I dont think you can land the job after clearing delta. There is no value for half baked degree.

Any other doubt, do write in.
Thanks Babu, but you have not addressed my question. I am really confused whether having a CFA would add something to my qualification stream ?
Hi Tumtum, you are working as an analyst. would you please tell me, does a CFA together with PG in Economics mean anything to get a job in analyst position ?
Congrats ! Great job. You are lucky if you have got delta books. Normally institute will not send you material this quickly. Take my case. I havent got my beta and gamma material and exams are in july.

Actually i am not talking about the degree as a prize for getting an analsysts job... i was talking about the knowledge part of it..... what i ment was does delta give u good enuf knowledge to that kind of a job
hey Babu, regd the exam fee payment. when i click both alpha and beta, the total comes to rs 1600,ie 800 each. my doubt is-- 1-has the exam fees not been increased to rs.1000 per paper?
2-do we have to pay alpha fees? was it not included in our payment while regstn.
There is no concrete data given in prospectus. Only passing percentages (Percentage of students passed) given. High 80's and early 90's can give you a chance to be All India topper.
