It wouldn't be possible to know the status of your application right now as the office has been inundated with application forms and it is taking time to process each of them. We would suggest that you wait for the call. We will update you about that on this thread. Alternatively, you will come to know about it on the website (DoMS IIT Madras).

If last year's trends are to follow, the shortlist of people for GT/PI will be out within 10-15 days and the GT/PI itself will be held in February-March across the cities nominated. Also, the dates for GT/PI in various cities are due to be released in a week or two,followed in some days by the list of shortlisted people. So keep checking our website and/or this thread. All the best.

At DoMS we don't have the conventional GD and PI. We hae the GT and PI.


i saw tht in the appln form it was given GT/PI...i didnt know GT stands for group task..sounds really interesting!!...thanks a lot for sharing tht info with us...it was really helpful..! if its a group task then how will everyone's participation in it be judged???

The differentiating factor for GT is that u won't get those regular GD kinda topics. Here the topics could be as weird as u can think. But what profs essentially would be looking at ur planning and strategy making. There ll be discussion among all of u, that profs. would be observing and that precisely would be the time when u can really pitch in with some innovative, ground breaking ideas or view points.
Make sure to contribute to the group as a whole not jus keep contradicting each others point of view. Essence is to evaluate all the options as come up with some strategy in the end as a group, thats what task is all about.

i m prettyu confused. just make it clear how will i come to know that the list for GD/PI calls have been prepared. i have searched the sites but with no success. they have not even given any information , when they are to declare the list of shorlisted students .... tell me what to do???

Nope, the list isnt out yet, we will put the link on the thread as soon as the list is out. The list should be out in another weeks time.
So hold on and have patience.

@All....Friends, remember this is an unofficial interface to help you out with admission queries. Calling up DoMS, and quoting that XYZ was told to us on pagalguy.com wont help you or us.

and can you please throw some light on GD/PI process?? will there be normal gd or case study?? and in PI.. i heard that IIT's concentrate on engg subjects and projects in details.. is it correct? do we have to go through engg subjects again(i have work ex.. 2 years.. do i have to )

and also.. what kinda topics will be there for GD.. same like normal private b-schools.. or different kinda topics..???


Hey Ravikanth,

Details on GD/PI Process will be posted soon. DoMS IIT Madras usually follows a group task process, where the focus is more on team work.. With two years of work ex, you may not be asked too much on engg.
In Group task what would be looked for is ur planning and strategy making. There ll be discussion among all of u, that profs. would be observing and that precisely would be the time when u can really pitch in with some innovative, ground breaking ideas or view points.
Group Task (GT) is more on the group working towards solving a single task than plain discussion. It will be interesting. Look forward to it!
