I left my job 5 months back.Have an experience of 1 year in the steel sector(Jindal steel and power)
How many more years do I need to work?I'm looking for a public sector.Would that be a deterrent?
What all colleges should I go for,if I opt for operations?

Overall,yes,I think these one year courses would save both time and money!

Cat crazy - you ca look at IIm indore's one year mba thread at the above link.
Its the only one year mba at IIM's which accepts CAT alog with GMAT.

@iimcatcrazy Also the acceptance criterion at a One year mba is holistic and has evolved to an international approach similar as that at harvard, stanford etc where range of gmat is betwen 570 to 770 on 800. GMAT alone is not important but only one indicator of brilliance and one criterion for shortlisting. So a more enlightened approach to finding all rounded talent rather than differentiate between 97.7 and 97.5 on atest. PS - Stanford rejects 800/800 gmat test scorere's routinely and so does iim -we look for people who have solid achievements, a good gmat score, good essays, good recos, and capability.

1. Differs for each institute. Better check the relevant threads here in PG to get answers or ask current students there. Then again the placements figures are significantly high because of course the students have significant pre-MBA work exp and have left jobs which paid them in the range of > 8-10lakhs (exceptions might be there)!!

2. There is nothing called ideal work exp. Even people with the minimum eligibility criteria stated for the course, say its 5yrs for XLRI GMP, get through. It depends on GMAT score, overall profile and how they find your profile fit in the overall batch.

AFAIK for public sector jobs you need to take GATE or specific test of the organization like ONGC, HAL etc. announces for some vacancies they have.

For Ops, IIM B, NITIE, SIOM etc. (2 year programs) are some well known institutes.

Hi,all IIMs and XLRi require 5 years min experience for the 1 year mba. You can look at ISB for its flagship PGP which mandates 2 years experience. Great Lakes (flagship PGPM), IMT, IMI, SP Jain dubai, Soil are some other options.

I am having 5+ years of experience in IT and had wrote this year CAT too.

I have got the interview call from MDI (NMP) for the interview on 6th Jan, which is prior to CAT result date. So can you please help in letting me know that what is the selection criterion.

Also, can you tell what is the average package.

And is this course really beneficial.

And how to prepare for the interview and what all things should I prepare well.

Whether course is beneficial or not will depend on what you want and expect from the program and so is subjective. You'll have to decide for yourself based on information/facts you collect.

@kp2013 are u interested in a part time mba (which is what an Executive MBA is) or a full time regular One Year MBA (which is not an executive MBA)
