@ajaygovindg Thanks for your reply. My experience is in Core Manufacturing sector. I have not taken GMAT yet(planning to take it in June). Got the offer based on XAT2013 performance. Do you have any idea about the placements and industry repuation of IMTG 1 year course? I am unable to find any credible information on these issues.
Thanks again for your help.
Hi to one and all,I am a commerce graduate and went on to do my masters in commerce..further i appeared for CAT and got enrolled in 18 months programme in Maters in International Business..Got placed after completing the course and then worked for 1.5 years..Had to leave the job due to unavoidable personal problems and health issues..its been almost 3 years now..Now i want to get back to the job as my health is taken care of almost..
My area of interest has always been finance ... so Should i do some worth certifications course in Finance ( and if yes then which ones )or again do some part time or executive MBA to get back in to the corporate world.. I really dont wanna spend huge amounts again as my previous MBA squeezed 7-8 lakhs of rupees from me.. saying this once i have a stable job i can spend money on education in lakhs but right now i can only spend in thousands for a valuable course...

Below are some of the 1 yr full time MBA/Certificate programmes the so called "Executive MBA " (confusing!) or MBA for Executives in India. It is different from the 2 or 3 year part-time programs that are offered in almost all leading institutes in the country Which are named/referred to as "MBA for Working Managers" or "Executive MBA". Majority of the below courses have an eligibility criteria of 5 years (minimum) or more work exp. (Except Great Lakes, Praxis, SOIL). Do check program details in the links provided to confirm exact eligibility criteria.

Hi Ajay,

Executive MBA or Part-time MBA for 3 years usually doesn't have placement support because the students are working in some organization and attend classes in the evening or weekends. The list I have compiled there is the 1yr full time MBA programme which is like a compressed package of the 2yr programme for people who want to save time in doing MBA! :)

Hi,

I have 6.5 years of experience in IT. I want to do Executive MBA and there are various courses available from top B-schools like IIMs/XLRI,etc.
These courses are offered either through hughes education or NIIT Imperia.

But, at the end of the course, a "certification of completion" is provided for the course. No degree/diploma is offered.
I want to know, how beneficial these certificates may be proved in my career growth.?

These institutes are offering courses like Executive Program for Young Professionals(EPYP), Executive Program in Business Analytics(EPBA), and many more.

Please let me know it's benefits in terms of my career growth, role change and salary hikes?

I did my B.Tech in computer science & engineering & worked as software engineer for 2 years. Now I want to get settled in abroad (Europe/U.S./Canada/Malasia/Singapore) at least for 5-10 years. Is it necessary to get MBA From abroad for this? Aren't there other routes by which I can do MBA in India & still go on settling in abroad after 4-5 yrs. working in INDIA?? Plz mention some paths...

Hi, I am Ranajoy. Let me give a brief summary of myself before I place my question on the table:

Educational Background: B.Pharm

Total Exp: 4 yrs

Past Experience Breakup: 1.6 yrs (U.S Healthcare Insurance Analytics+SAS)+2.3 yrs (Clinical SAS Analytics).

Present Experience: Retail Consumer Finance Analytics- Marketing division (Retail Cards)

2 years down the line I want to pursue an executive MBA and I wish to work in either campaign or credit card analytics field. Am in a fix as to what electives should I focus into. Am planning to focus on marketing electives or finance electives but as you can understand that as am not from a finance background, would it be a risky proposition to take finance elective in a 1 yr executive MBA program?

If I intend to take up finance electives can you let me know how should I prepare myself from now to understanding financial concepts to come at par. Are there any pre-requisites I should complete before taking up finance electives?

Hey Guys,

Right when I was about to start applying for Executive MBA to ISB and IIMs, I spoke to some of my MBA friends (both ISB and 2 yr IIM passouts) and the unanimous decision is that MBA is not worth the ROI. It has left me confused and frustrated as I am so close to applying. I am looking for some more perspective. Please help !!

My Profile:
8 years of IT experience in financial software development. Good growth in career both financially and in terms of responsibilities. Good salary.. comparable to many MBAs out there even from top-notch B-schools..

Goal:
Sick and tired of coding.. Looking for a role change.. may be consulting .. program or product management or business development

Perspectives I have received so far (all from ISB and IIM passouts):
Positive:
1. Having an MBA will allow you to change your role for sure but may not be exactly of your choice
2. Even in future you will find it easy to change jobs/roles
3. Might open roles of Biz Development, Consulting or Product Mgr

Negatives:
1. It is not good in terms of ROI. For sure in short term you might have to take a step back financially esp. if your current salary is on the higher side. Even in long term ROI would be good only if you are ready to let go your personal life
2. It is best to go for an MBA after 2-3 yrs of work ex. or if you are stuck in your career either financially (on the lower side) or in terms of position
3. It would depend a lot on your luck too. MBA is more sensitive to economic environment. So if the economy is good in the year you are passing out, you might hit a jackpot. Else you might end up taking a big hit and might not ever recover what all you had put at stake
4. Better approach is to see if you can make a role change without an MBA
5. IT companies are much more stable and have a much more free and relaxed work environment
6. There might not be significant difference in financial terms between a person with MBA and one without an MBA

All this has left me highly confused. I would be talking to few more guys in coming days.. it would be great if current or ex ISB/IIM students of executive MBA can share their experience and help me make a decision.

A prompt response would be of great help.. as if I decide to go for MBA I need to start working on my app.

Cheers !!

Hello Friends,

I am a B.Com(Honours) graduate (2012) from Osmania University-84%
Intermediate-Maths, Economics, Commerce-91.6% (Andhra Pradesh State board)
10th-91.3%
Also qualified CA-Intermediate-Group:1 (equivalent to Accounting Technician course).
I had appeared for CAT and other Management entrances in 2012 and secured admission in a few colleges but gave them up as I always wanted to pursue my MBA-(preferably in Finance) from the top b-schools.
However, recently I came to know about an International PGDM in Risk Management being offered by Institute of Insurance and Risk Management (IIRM),Hyderabad (an institute jointly promoted by IRDA and Govt. of Andhra Pradesh).
I would like your inputs on the following plan:
will it be a good idea to take up this course at IIRM, work for 4-5 years while simultaneously pursuing CFA, and after that appear for the CAT, GMAT and other exams to enroll in a regular MBA at one of the top B-schools?
Also, I have a Plan-B in case the IIRM plan does not work out. I will be joining a Wealth Management startup and will appear for the CAT and other exams in 2013 itself. (work experience at the startup upto february 2014 will be around 10 months).
I would really appreciate your valuable insights on the above stated courses of action and advise me on which one will be a better course to pursue. I am really in need of some advice on this as it will enable me to take an informed decision.
please do spare some time on this and make sure to post your responses. 😃
Please 😃
Thank you.
Cheers!! lookround

Hi All,

I'm working IT professional, cannot compromise with the job and want to apply for the higher education in MBA.

In my company, they only consider the Exec. MBA and not any Part time PGDBM.

The same is the case with the other large firm, as per the info. I've gathered (please suggest if you've better info.). Now, for getting Exec. MBA, I've applied in SIBM, but failed to clear the last round. And, even if I cleared that, I was not in a situation to join there. Because, course was for 2.5 years and they won't allow the gap of one/1+ year; that is, they won't provide me a degree in that case. And, I can get the onsite opportunity (chance to go abroad) within for min. of 1 year. For the business priority and by looking at the carrier point of view, I can't avoid that opportunity.

So, the course was not seems to be profitable in my case, i.e., by paying 3.6 Lack, you even won't get the degree (obviously, after passing the exams too).

Now, MIT is ready to provide me same but it'll be the distance education (online course). They also providing me PGD course and the total fees will be less than 50K. I'm aware of fact that MIT comparatively lower and local brand and I even not aware of its considerable accreditation.

Now, by looking at the above scenario, below are my questions,

1) Are any of the above course valid for further education like PhD? If yes, then will there any % criteria?

2) If I'll get the onsite (US/Mexico), is there any MBA equivalent course available over there for 1 to 2 year? If yes, please suggest the details of that course?

3) Is anyone aware of the government policy there, whether I apply to any education especially if I've H1B visa?

4) Please suggest few better Universities and their course details, if above case is possible. Please suggest if there'll be any entrance/test for getting the admission.

Please suggest if you know the answer of any of the above question.

Let me know if you'll require any further details. Thanks!
