Has anyone started filling up the IIMC online FP form? In Step 4: Other Information, there are 5 questions:
1) List below honours, awards, or distinctions that you have earned: 2) Please state your career goals elaborating how you think the Fellow Programme will help you achieve them: 3) Explain why you believe that you should be selected for the Fellow Programme citing relevant personality traits and evidence from your career to date: 4) Please give below any other information you would like to provide: 5) Upload any published or unpublished research work which you might have completed. You may give abstracts or summaries if the entire document cannot be uploaded:
Does anybody know if there are any word/character limits for these questions? If there are any limits then answers exceeding those limits will be truncated upon submission. Thought I would ask here before writing to the FP office.

FPM threads have run on PG for many years now and these past threads are rich with insightful comments and information. You will also find information about FPM interviews and the profiles of people who got selected in past. It will help you a lot if you go through the following threads:
I am presently an assistant professor (economics and finance) for the past one semester at a B-school 'that happened to have mushroomed on the side of National Highway" in NCR region . I have 1 yr of work experience in Fixed Income Derivatives Trading at a proprietary trading firm prior to joining as a faculty. There I developed an interest in Fixed Income Analytics and intend to explore this area further. I have Btech Background with MBA in Finance from a state university. I have done undergraduate dissertations from CSIR and All India Institute of Medical Sciences and MBA dissertation from a NSE listed firm.
I have been exploring faculty profiles at IIMs and IITs but I have not come across any faculty who are specifically working in Fixed Income Area, though a couple of them at IIM B come close but they are in allied areas . I appeared in CAT but quant section has been a royal screw up. Though I am pretty good in Calculus and Statistics stuff due to my Btech background but lack of 9th/10th level maths practice did me in during CAT. My Math score on Btech and MBA gradesheets are all 75%+. I have some specific queries.
Q1. Can my Math scores offset the poor Quant section in CAT? Or should I avoid mentioning any CAT stuff and apply to IIM B without any score?
Q2. My recommendation letters are not from my MBA faculty but from faculty who previously recommended me at AIIMS and CSIR, one of them took my interview (happened to be my father's friend ) Is it necessary to have recommendation letters from MBA faculty members?
Q3. This is a diversion from this thread as it pertains only to Indian PhD/FPM discussions, but i have not found any help anywhere else. I have also explored the option of pursuing PhD from abroad, but after perusing a lot of info on the web I found that Math prerequisites for a Finance PhD abroad is killing. They won't even consider the application (GRE/GMAT score notwithstanding) unless there are some math courses on our gradesheets that are generally taught in Msc Maths/Stats/Econometrics courses under Indian education system. Has anyone who has tried to apply abroad in Finance/Econ area faced such problems and circumvented it? A friend of mine suggested GRE subject test in Mathematics to offset the disadvantage to some extent? How advantageous is that? Any pointers from seniors would be helpful.
@sb29 i have read some of previous but i would like if its possible for you, then plz rply to my query in personal..i.e. again as per my specific requirement..i hv learnt abt this course from previous threads..
@caayush You can obviously get into an IIM for FPM in case you are interested in teaching and research. I think your background in accounting will be valued. In case you are interested abroad, firstly, check the requirement of the universities. Most universities require at least 4 years of university education. In case you have a masters degree, it is OK. Otherwise a B.Com. may not suffice. If you are interested in applying abroad, I would strongly suggest that you work as an RA to a prof at ISB or any other good institute to get some research experience and apply next year. There is a huge shortage of people in accounting in academics abroad and it is a highly (financially) rewarding choice.
It will help if you can tell me your full profile including workex, academics etc.
Also according to my idea now a days CA and CS degrees are considered equivalent to post graduation degree where ever there is a need that candidate should be a post graduate.
Just one advice to you.... you cannot apply for FPM @ IIM unless you have JRF awardship certificate (hard copy). My friends application at IIM A was rejected recently. Just pray to get it before last date of other IIM's.
