Hi pdu12,

I totally understand that it's really challenging to fit everything in those 100 words. It's in fact not recommended to ask a candidate to describe his/her suitability to FPM in just 100 words. But I think you are missing one thing here. I just went through IIM-L application form, and what they are asking you to limit your answers to 100 words for each of three things mentioned. 1. Statement of Purpose, 2. Previous Research Experience, 3. Proposed Research activity. For these three sections you have total 300 words, i.e. around 30 lines. I think if you try you can manage to cover your whole SOP in these 300 words. They of course wont mind if you exceed some 20-30 words to complete it. In anyways, in other IIMs' SOP you write everything in one essay, here they are asking you to separate it in three section. I think its a good idea to structure your SOP and for reader to comprehend.

Hope this will give some clarity on how to organize your SOP.

Also about chances of getting through, believe me nobody can judge on that nor you are going to believe that even if at all somebody can. So just give it a genuine try, don't be restless. Put your efforts and result will eventually come out.

But since you have asked, teaching experience will surely help you in building your case. Moreover you should try IIM-C as well. IIM-C is better in quantitative courses than other IIMs as far as I know. You should also go through the profile of Decision Science faculties in all IIMs. See if somebody has worked in your interest area. It will also help you in selling your point once you get interview call from that specific IIM.

I hope my inputs will help you.

All the best :)
@anu1011 : a ton thanks for your advices. But Decision Sciences is not available in all IIMs. However, could you advice me as which among ''Quantitative Method-Operation managmnt'' and ''Strategic management'' would be better for me as I hail from Electronics and communication engineering background...and would like to do research which involves some application of whatever I have learnt during my Grad.
Kindly advice if you have any other stream in mind.

@ all: I completed my engineering in electronics and communication and want to apply for FPM in IIMC in OR. How can I relate my engineering background with my field of interest for FPM.
Kindly suggest some link.
also to @anu1011 plz help.

@all:

Dear friends, I had shared my webpage link in the earlier posts. This is to inform you that the webpage url has been changed.

Hi,
I am applying for FPM this year. Apart for Old IIM's, how about applying to new one and also XLRI ?

Thanks in advance

@nitya.saxena if you have a choice, do not join the new IIMs. Its because, the new IIMs will take some time to get to the research culture. XLRI is fine when compared to new IIMs.

"Indian B-Schools and their global publication output" published in the December 2012 Issue of Career 360 magazine...this might be of interest to us.

http://bschool.careers360.in/indian-b-schools-and-their-global-publication-count

Thank you Krishnan for sharing the document. Though the ranking given in the study may not correctly reflect the research culture of an institution as all publications have been given equal importance irrespective of its standard or journal quality, the list can certainly give an idea about the importance given to research in various institutions.

@swagato1987 Yes Swagato. You are correct. This document was shared with by Prof. R T Krishnan (IIMB). I copied the link and posted it in this forum.
@nitya.saxena I was going through the XLRI website and came across their intake stats for the last few years. Here is the link: http://www.xlri.ac.in/scripts/currentstudents_full.php
If this is the complete list, things do not look very promising intake-wise

Anyone has any inputs?

Hey Thanks.. It seems they are quite stringent in admitting FPM students!! Just one in 2012!! Also any one here has any idea about CAT percentile weightage? My CAT was not that great..
@tskriz @swagato1987 A much better ranking which considers only the top tier journals and for last 5 years.
