@[610602:Sagigarima]
I am not aware of a single book which will help you crack CAT, but http://www.tenaday.co.in/ may help. I am not sure if you are aware of this site. I used to practice on it when I took CAT in 2009.
Hope this helps!
IIMA FPM forms are out... I know this maybe a tad late but in case anyone is planning 😃
@[398338:manowar] hi all,
I am a new member of this forum, would like to give an academic and professional brief of mine:
10th:86%
12th:79.90%
B.Pharm frm Jadavpur University:78.79% CGPA 8.53
GATE 2007,86 percentile.
M.Pharm BIT,MESRA CGPA 8.45
Exp:as a faculty ,1 yr.
I never thought of doing any management course initially though I always wanted to do Phd and to be true never knew about FPM,But while working as a faculty i developed interest in Management and while going through IIMB website I came to know about this course and gradually by google search I came to know about this forum. Though I m nt sure wheather my profile is suitable fr FPM, I want to apply in Corporate Strategy and policy or OPM in IIMB.Currently I am preparing for UGC CSIR NET(one of the national exam mentioned in IIMB website).
So, Is it practicaly possible to acomplish?
Please suggest.
Thanks in advance.

@sb29 said:Hi, Welcome to PG!You have a great profile and there is no reason why your application should not be competitive.Management research is highly interdisciplinary and encourages people from other areas to be a part of it. For example, in my field, a background in psychology holds great value. I am sure that you will be able to do well with your background too.Since you are still researching about FPM/PhD, I would suggest that you first decide which broad field you want to work in. Next check out the profiles of the professors in the premier institutes and see if their research interests you. Do not restrict yourself to only IIMB because the other institutes like other IIMs, XLRI, IITs, ISB etc also have good professors in the fields you have mentioned. I would also suggest that you apply abroad.Do you have any research paper/conference presentation? This will add a lot of value to your application. Thanks @sb29 for the thoughtful suggestion.Unfortunately I don't have a research paper/conference presentation. As per the RAT exam concern,I am preparing for the quantatitive, verbal reasoning, and DI part. But what else?Could you please suggest how to prepare for the RAT and interview part?Due to my family issues currently I can't relocate myself outside Bangalore, that's whyfocusing only on IIMB.Please sugest. Thanks in advance.Mouli
I would suggest you go through the thread. Your questions have been answered before. You can also contact some of the current students from IIMB.
Hey Puys just wanted to update the thread... IIMI FPM forms are out even saw their advert in the paper... unfortunately for me that means I need to prepone my GMAT ah well that is life I guess
Hi guys,
This is my profile.
X - 84.5%
XII - 92.8%
Currently in final year of B.Tech at IIT Bombay with a modest CGPA of 6.3
No great extra-curriculars.
In the last one year I developed interest in finance and have also done a finance course.
I'm inclined towards joining FPM at IIM A/B/C/L/I right after graduating. Do I have a realistic
chance of getting in without having work experience.
I'm currently doing a project under a professor of SJMSOM. If this project turns out to be productive, will it have a profound effect on my chances.
Another plan I'm contemplating is to join as an RA at IIMs or ISB after graduating, work for 2/3 years and then go for FPM. But I don't have any idea how they recruit RAs and what qualifications and eligibilites they look for.
Looking forward to some help.
Thanks in advance.
so what will be the career opportunities for FPM - information systems ?
THe basis of all FPM is research... a quick read on all FPM FAQ's will give you an idea. But the opportunities would range from research and academics to consulting in some cases.
While it is a research program, the first year of the program is common with the flagship MBA program in most institutes and you go through the same rigour as the MBA students. This makes FPM students suited for careers in both academia and industry. If you do some research on the alumni of the programs, many of them have joined industry after the completion of the program (but in research based roles)
Guys the IIMB form will be out in September so will the ISB. Please check the FAQs related to RAT you will find out everything
As far as I am aware only FPM is offered by the IIMs and ISB. I suggest read through the FAQs on the website that should solve your queries.
