This year I think following factors will have impact on the marks vs rank pattern:

1.  Virtual Calculator

2. More NAT questions

3. 2-3 Out of trend question in every set. (3 que in set 1)

This might have led to a decrease in numbers of attempted questions (point 3) and an increase in no: of  wrong questions due to silly mistakes (point 1 and 2).

Set 2 was not tough but was lengthy as compared to other. 'Out of the trend' questions were less in set 3.

The level of set : 2>1>3.

set 2 might get +3 to +5, set 1 might get about -1 to -1.5, set 3 might get -1.5 to -2 after normalization.

Average of the marks vs rank distribution in 2014 and 2015 will be followed this year I Guess:

So Roughly:

90-95 : Topper and under 10

85+ under 50

80+ under 150

75+ under 350

Normalization is Mathematically valid. But I am completely disagree with this policy.

I can just give a example.

Just take a example two equally intelligent people X and Y, who could have scored almost same marks if there was only one question paper. But X person got easier paper and Y got tough one, after results if you see, definitely their ranks will be differed by some 100s or even 500s. Which is not fair.

When they can Conduct JEE Mains/ Advanced for lacks of people in a single day, they can easily conduct one exam for each branch engineering in GATE.                                                                                  answer by - Rajendra  Prasad  R in quora............

I am relatively new in this forum. But i am glad to find some resourceful students here who are expecting to obtain quite high scores in Gate'16. There are many amongst you who have taken coaching frm reputed instis like Made Easy, ACE academy etc. Brothers I have some queries for you as follows : 

1. Yaar yeh S1 mein production ka "choke" waala question kitno ne sahi kiya? Kabhi padha hi nahi choke ke baare mein...i mean Rao, Ghosh n Malik mein bhi nahi thha. 

2. What is the highest marks you have heard from your respective instis Made Easy, Gate forum etc. ? Plzz  be kind enough to respond.

i think grey cast iron (set 2) waale question me iisc ko dono hi solutions, 0.9126 aur 1.09 ko sahi kar dena chahiye, if there is a doubt regarding +ve or -ve allowance...because 2004 me wo -ve allowance consider kr k ek question de chuke hain....and unhi k nptel me +ve allowance liya gaya hai... sab ka bhala hoga.. kyun bhaiyon?
