That's actually pretty good you know. Kaplan is reputed to have the weirdest scoring algo and ppl have reported scores fluctuating between 70 and 100 points so you see it certainly is
Way to go !!!
I would suggest you take kaplan more with a practice perspective not scoring. It is a great resource to practice. I believe a good scrub is needed for shine. Kaplan does help in getting a good score.
Ps: I used to add 50 to score of kaplan to see my progress. I donot know whether it is correct or not but kept my spirits high.

Glad to know so many people from Hyderabad gearing up for the GMAT. As suggested in the previous post we can plan a meeting for knowledge sharing.
Took my 2nd Kaplan mock GMAT on sunday and managed a paltry 640.....Way to go

For you english i would suggest this
1) Read Manhattan SC - get your fundas clear
2) Take Spidey and Sahils notes - review them
3) Prepare your own cheat sheet based on above three
4) Get Set Go --> OG10/11 then Kaplan then Sets 21-31. or you can go for the 1000 series
While practicing keep taking tests in between to gauge your progress
for Maths
1) Prepare the list of formulas
2) Start practicing in the order that i have said above .
3) Prepare a list of do's and dont's for the DS questions - like how to approach, what range of number to use when testing a question
While you are practicing, make detailed notes of your mistakes - will help you later when you will revise

I donot whether they were PUYs or not. They scored quite well in their GMATs. The notes are for SC and are quite good. You can search them on internet. They are easy to find.

Anyway guys, I need some gmat study partner to work out on gmat.
It's really boring to prepare by self. I leave in Srinagar Colony, near Jubilee Hills.
Any suggestions about good training institutes?

We had the Hyderabad GMAT study group get together this saturday. It was an amazing meet. Very informative and supportive. Vineet Bhaiyya's gyan is all set to help us all. Chaitanya's dig at CAT and philosphy provided the much needed humour :poketoungeb:. Thanks Naresh for putting it all together.
I am in for the 2nd reunioun on 24th May. It will also serve as an indicator of our progress.
P.S. I took my 1st Powerprep (ETS) test today and scored an heart warming 740 (Q50,V40). U were right Vineet Bhaiyya, after weathering the onslaught of KAPLAN, pp seemed quite comfortable. However, some questions were familiar as I have already covered some portion of the 1000 series.

I have just started my Prep by taking OG11 and Kaplan 800.

1. Which are the best institutes in hyderabad for GMAT training? is it good to join institute or do a self-study?
2. How much time should one work towards GMAT preparation? Like per day, total duration of preparation(3mnths),etc
3. How can I know my present level of knowledge as per GMAT exam...say I want to Benchmark myself to know my current level and then proceed towards targeted level?
4. Which books intially to start with the any specific order...like complete OG first and then take Kalpan as second,etc
I guess these are the few questiopns poping up my mind...just to mention a brief about me....I am software profession having 3+ years of experience with an average academics.
Please provide your suggestions.

Princeton is the best in the business, other institutes are not all that effective for GMAT (MoD... seriously not trying to promote)

Initially 2-3 Hrs every day(serious preparation), let it continue for 2 months and see to it that you have practiced throughly during these two months and score around 700+ in the mock you take over the week ends.
After all this try to spend 8-9 hrs every day for a week or two for revision all the stuff you have done earlier... before to take the exam
3. How can I know my present level of knowledge as per GMAT exam...say I want to Benchmark myself to know my current level and then proceed towards targeted level?
There are couple of GMAT online tests site, which can be consider to know your level; you can even take test from GMAT PREP/kaplan/Barrons/Princeton ...
