Hi GMAT Aspirants..:-))

Thanks all for the responses to my queries.

Keep going...

Sarma

Sorry Dude,

I have been really busy for some time now. i guess this will go on till 20th of this month. For your queries find the answers below

Hi All,

First of all, I would like to THANK Pagalguy team and each group member on sharing the information to the aspirants.

I am also planning to appear for GMAT but havent yet zeroed in dates for exam. I am going through the thread to get details and it is very informative...but to my eagerness can you please provide inputs on few of the below queries...

1. Which are the best institutes in hyderabad for GMAT training? is it good to join institute or do a self-study?
I did full tme self study so cannot comment on insti's. Well any way you will have to put in a required effort even if you go to an insti. If you like to go to a class for regularity and focus then definatly go to a class
2. How much time should one work towards GMAT preparation? Like per day, total duration of preparation(3mnths),etc

Depends on you and you calibre, but i think three months with two hours daily and six to seven in week ends are enough for a 700+. (beyond three months i would go :baaa:)
3. How can I know my present level of knowledge as per GMAT exam...say I want to Benchmark myself to know my current level and then proceed towards targeted level?
There are lot of diagonostic test available.Best one would be GMAT (Prep) download it from mba.com. otherwise there is one available in OG. I remember seeing a free online test on Princeton site and IMS site.
4. Which books intially to start with the any specific order...like complete OG first and then take Kalpan as second, etc

First revise your funds. Other books and their sequence i have mentioned on this thread. Just search.

I guess these are the few questiopns poping up my mind...just to mention a brief about me....I am software profession having 3+ years of experience with an average academics.

Please provide your suggestions.

Cheers:cheerio:

Rock On!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have booked a slot on Aug 5th.
Planning to join VISU from this weekend onwards. Princeton is good but too too expensive.
Moreover, i'm just looking for some guidance and not an entire makeover. So, dont want to spend that much.

Can someone tell me how is IMS..

Suggestions are most welcome...

@ Ravi
You can actually prepare for GMAT on your own, only thing you need is concentration.
I am personally not sure about IMS / Visu / Time.

In terms of prepation you can do the following

English
you can go ahead with Manhattan SC, Spidy & Sahils Notes (just google), prepare for RC (loads of material available on the Net, Apart from all this you should work from OG.
Best way to proceed with Verbal / English is to prepare a rule book, Do's & don't s.
Maths/Quant
Prepare list for formulas; practice from various sources on regular basis;
Overall
Take the mock GMAT so that you do not miss out on time management.

Also refer Vineets suggestion to me

Yesterday's PG meet saw more attendance and more animated discussions than the last version. Unfortunately some attendees from the last meet could not make it but Naresh (Neo), Vineet, Vijayan (Matterover), Chaitanya and I turned up.

Vineet's gyaan is invaluable and his methodical approach to GMAT (And for that matter anything including the application planning etc.) is worth emulating. Vineet if you ever get bitten by this entrepreneurship bug start something on the lines of PRINCETON REVIEW. You will pretty much drive them out of business.

Vijayan is one of the coolest guys I have encountered in recent years. His attitude that "I like GMAT and that's why I am taking it" is what aspirants can help themselves with.:cheerio:

Naresh is very dedicated to his dream and puts everything together to make sure that the discussions are productive. He had to drive his bike well above the speed limit to make it in time. :nervous:

Chaitanya is an analyst in the true sense of the word. Though some of his analysis pisses Vineet off, who is a staunch opponent of any analysis in GMAT other than the questions, Chaitanya sure has captured the attention of many "analytical minds"...way to go buddy.
:cheerio:

About the new joiners, (Ankur, Vikram, Surya, Srikanth, Ravi, Vamsi and Kiran)I need another meet to form an opinion, hopefully all of you would have sealed your dates by then. You need to have a 10000 Rupees sword dangling up your a** to come to the same level and relate better (esp. to Vijayan, Chaitanya and me who are next to enter the warzone).

In short the meet was an informative and motivating one and I look forward to the next meeting which is gonna happen 1 month from now.

Hey all.
thanks mayank for that wonderful post.
thanks to everyone who made it to the meet. It was a wonderful session with more gyaan , as usual and as always.
Looking forward to meet up again.
