1. C. This is a parallelism and if... then condition. Here the parallelism with exercise and associate. If and then statement requires a past tense. So IMO C

2.Here we need the idiom Consider XY and not Consider X to be Y. So here D is correct in IMO.

B is as is correct but "if" is not idiomatic so B is incorrect.

C.if "as being" can be avoided then it should be.

E. here "are" and they do not have a correct noun to refer to. So incorrect.

3. C IMO.Them does not have an antecedent in Aso incorrect. "They" does not have a correct antecedent so B,D are gone.In E such as is used to describe an example so incorrect.

4. IMO E. Here this is a subj-verb and parallelism question. here the subj is ownership and this needs a singular "is" B, D are gone . Next we need the parallelism "only when" and "not when". So E is the only one satisfying the parallelism.

OA for all the questions please.

D) - Perhaps Consider + Noun + What else?
D) - No idea---why Such is allowed here at first place, there ain't any example???

Please explain....

Before he was assassinated by his brother in 1828, King Shaka built a Zulu empire extending over hundreds of thousands of square miles and that contained some two million inhabitants.
(A) extending over hundreds of thousands of square miles and that contained
=> parallelism error ( extending & contained )
(B) extensive over hundreds of thousands of square miles, and it contained
=> Don't see any need to use the noun 'extensive'
(C) that extended over hundreds of thousands of square miles and containing
=> same as A
(D) that extended over hundreds of thousands of square miles and contained
=> right answer
(E) which was extending over thousands of square miles and containing
=> why the sentence in past continuous form when past tense should have done.Pls note it is always better to use the simple tense than to use the perfect or continuous tense.

infact if the sentence contained two 'thats' i would have never chosen that option. :nono: ( of course, making sure that it was not causing any issues with the parallelism )

and yes, amsey1382 , you are right in saying that is there was the second that ...it would have modified the king.

the confusion lies between option A and option B.. I would have marked option B owing to the fact that I would wanna avoid passive sentence..

wats the OA..??..
Puys try this,

The frost on the windshield of Mr. James' car, which caused him a fifteen-minute delay to remove it, had formed when moisture condensed during the night.
(A) had formed when moisture condensed during the night
(B) formed when moisture was condensed during the night
(C) was formed when moisture condenses during the night
(D) had been formed when moisture condensed during the night
(E) formed when moisture condensed during the night
Remove the middle sentence (starting with "which")
The frost on the windshield of Mr. James' car _________

I would have marked option C

wats the OA ;)
Puys try this,

(A) had formed when moisture condensed during the night
(B) formed when moisture was condensed during the night
(C) was formed when moisture condenses during the night
(D) had been formed when moisture condensed during the night
(E) formed when moisture condensed during the night
Puys try this,

(A) had formed when moisture condensed during the night
(B) formed when moisture was condensed during the night
(C) was formed when moisture condenses during the night
(D) had been formed when moisture condensed during the night
(E) formed when moisture condensed during the night

I think the answer is E. The frost forms after the moisture condensed, so this is a action that takes place later. Hence had here is incorrect. A,D are out. option C,B "was" is passive. So E.

wats the OA..??..

well.. 'when' is used in reference to time.. so the answer could most probably be option A.. now I am uttery confused..

wats the OA..??..

I will go for E.using past to show the same time of events.

I'll go with E.

A: had formed - incorrect - I think we need simple past
B: moisture was condensed - who is condensing moisture here?
C: was formed and condenses - seems like a mismatch. One is past and other is continuous. Had it been, is formed when moisture condenses... -- should be ok
D: had been formed -- why should been be used here?
E: formed -- simple past needed

Whats the OA?

I changed my answer from A to E.
Reason: An event that took place in past is showing its effects in present.
Eg:
The necklace, which PG presented her yesterday, is very beautiful.
