Thanks Ponds Bhai for the explanation.

My queries are-

"has disclosed" is better than "disclosed"--

consider the below mentioned sentences

The party is in danger,X disclosed the information.
OR
the party is in danger,X has disclosed the information.

Now,please let me know which one seems to be more precise and logical.

Also please point out the parallelism.

Hoping that i've understood what u're looking for, here's my explanation:

Option B structure is "ABC, disclosed XYZ"

ABC = information
XYZ = the source who discloses the info

Has disclosed and disclosed, both can be correct, thgough in this case the option with HAS DISCLOSED has other problems.

waiting for Ponds' commennts

It should be "has disclosed".

Has/ have + past participle is present perfect form used for past actions with results in the present unfinished action.

However, more suitable usage would be

"The party is in danger "as" X has disclosed the information.

Hi Ujjaval,

In above mentioned example given by Vyom,

The party is in danger,X disclosed the information.
OR
the party is in danger,X has disclosed the information.

Definitely "disclosed" is better than "has disclosed".

But in previous Question posted by Vyom,

If you will see that sentence in totality Seven out of every ten school age children years in Ghana suffer from anemia, the head of the nutrition unit of the Ghana health Service has disclosed.

It looks in present perfect, that anemia event is happening is confirmed

so, that's the reason i hit on first line of my explanation this "has disclosed" factor compared to past tense word "disclosed"

Hope this is clear !

Cheers !

B. Out of every ten children in the school age years in Ghana, seven suffer from anemia, disclosed the head of the nutrition unit of the Ghana Health Service.

OA is A.

Puys-Thanks for the discussion.

thnx 4 epln dude.. i was near 2 d ans but was bit confused between d & e.

Go 4 'A'.It can be explnd in this way...
Both d choices represent use of idioms:
So X that Y &
So X as to be Y...But choice B drags dis part of sentence into a passive...also use of 'it' in choice 'A' makes d sentence more clear coz 'it' modifies d Larson pass .

My options is D

Hi Vyom,

My take is for B.

  1. Giving clarity about parallelism.
  2. In option-A, use of word "it" is misleading to larson pass.
  3. Word "that" is not joining the sentence smoothly.

Cheers !

I would opt A..

In B, having been is present perfect which is always wrong on GMAT and is also passive..

E has being which is wrong as well..

OA is A.

I opted for B as the Idiom so X as to be Y seems more convincing.

About the modifier it(pronoun modifier) I am not sure whether the modifier use is correct.

Puys pls throw some more light by providing rules or explanation.I am unable to get the concept involved here.

Galileo did not invent the telescope, but on hearing, in 1609, that such an optical instrument had been made, he quickly built his own device from an organ pipe and spectacle lenses.

A. Galileo did not invent the telescope, but on hearing, in 1609, that such an optical instrument had been made, he--correct.Use of had been(instrument already made in the past)

B. Galileo had not invented the telescope, but when he heard, in 1609, of such an optical instrument having been made,--awkward construction-having been(tense is past)

C. Galileo, even though he had not invented the telescope, on hearing, in 1609, that such an optical instrument had been made, he--even though wrongly placed

D. Even though galileo did not invent the telescope, on hearing, in 1609, that such an optical instrument had been made,--he(pronoun) is missing

E. Even though galileo did not invent the telescope, but when he heard, in 1609, of such an optical instrument being made, he--awkward use of being

Please find my comments inline.
Please confirm the OA and post the explanation too.

Here we need to maintain the central idea of the sentence and also make sure that the past tense is maintained in the sentence.. without impacting the parallelism.

_____________ quickly built his own device from an organ pipe and spectacle lenses.

"built".. in past.. but this simple past.."device" is singular

Even though galileo did not invent the telescope, but when he heard, in 1609, of such an optical instrument being made, he quickly built his own device from an organ pipe and spectacle lenses.

I would have marked option E

plz share the OA ;)
