My answer is marked in color, that`s the only option looks tense wise correct rest all are weird. Sentence formation of other options are also imperfect.
One more.. Puys, Please specify which option is precise and why , along with the explanation. Although larson Pass is not often blocked,it is so difficult to navigate that is considered a serious safety hazard by the local mountaineers. A.it is so difficult to navigate that is considered a serious safety hazard B.So difficult is to navigate as to be considered a serious safety hazard
OA is A.
I opted for B as the Idiom so X as to be Y seems more convincing.
About the modifier it(pronoun modifier) I am not sure whether the modifier use is correct.
Puys pls throw some more light by providing rules or explanation.I am unable to get the concept involved here.
My comments:
A looks better.
Expln: 1. B seems very wordy
2. "it" in A should refer to the "pass" and it does so. The Pass is difficult to navigate - which is the intended meaning.
3. One problem i find in A is"to navigate that is considered a serious safety hazard" -- doesn't "....that is considered....." seem incomplete?
4.Coming back to B: "So difficult is to navigate as to be considered a serious safety hazard"
"so difficult to navigate": what is so difficult to navigate? Is the the same Pass that is talked about in the former part of the sentence? Need some reference to make things clear.
Besides this, I found A clear, except the "that" part.

OA is C. I chose A becos "was as bad today" din't seem right. Why would we use "was" when we talking about today?
heydharini, It would be really nice if you had not rushed to post the answers just yet. Anyways, i am trying the explain the reasoning of these answers.
1. If you read out the sentence , it indicates an event which took place in past. "So my immediate question was.." it sounds like an event that happened before was described to the author following which the author promptly raised a question. Did i confuse you?? well, i did the same to myself Bottomline is that if I dont have any means to know which tense is the sentence in then i will just follow a simple rule. Go by only what you have. In this sentence , because "was" is used i would stay in past tense.
Now between A & B, B will be chosen because sentence is a question and hence "did" must be used.
2. Same rule: Stay within what you have because its not very clear whether sentence is in present or past. When i go for present tense, none of the options using "is" is correct. When I switch to past tense, I find only C grammatically (rather idiomatically) correct.
HTH.

a. that make it more resilient to cognitive deadline b. that makes it more resilient to cognitive deadline c. that make them more resilient to cognitive deadline d. that makes them more resilient to cognitive deadline e. that make it most resilient to cognitive deadline
Original sentence: Scientists at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in America found that active mice demonstrate a greater ability to learn, suggesting that exercise increases brain chemicals that make it more resilient to cognitive deadline.
.. notice the pronoun "it". Find the reference.. "that" is followed by "checmicals" so 'it' must be referring to brain chemicals.. so plural is to be included..must use "them".
so it must be preceeded by singular "makes".. exercise makes them blah blah blah..
what is the OA plz.. ;)
Thanks HTH...

I dont think "it" is referring to brain chemicals. if it was so, the sentence would read as : exercise increases brain chemicals that makes brain chemicals more resilient...." Does it sound right? Chemicals cant be made resilient. Here, mice become more reslient and hence "it" is referring to mice.
Now the question is what is making mice more resilient: excercise/chemicals? I think chemicals, but would like to wait for oa before giving further lecture :)
I believe the answer must be option D
