i guess it's due to the 'of' In A, there is no 'of' after 'and'. Option A is therefore not parallel and hence incorrect. that's the only mistake i could find.
Well, as GMAT guidelines for SC ask us to pick the BEST option, here even though E has 'as well' at the end, it's grammatically correct, and hence the answer.

When u practice SC, for every option that you eliminate, mark(underline/circle) whatever u found wrong in the sentence and why you chose the option which you thought was corect. That ways when u check the answers, you can check if your line of thought has been in the right direction or not!!
