Although most large public relations firms can afford to run information technology centers in-house, some niche firms are discovering that the cost associated with maintaining an information technology staff and from continuously improving hardware and software are larger than they initially estimated.
A) cost associated with B) costs associated from C) costs associated with D) cost arising from E) costs arising from
* I shall go with (E).
* A & D eliminated because of the word "COST" instead of "COSTS".
* B - "Costs associated from" - Odd structure.
* C - Partly right but parallelism fails.

The parties have an agreement in principle, and because there is no signed contract does not mean that they cannot commence doing business immediately.
and because there is no
and there being no
so a
so the lack of a
therefore no
IMO d
In option a usage of because sounds awkward
In option b use of "being" hence eliminated
Option c changes the meaning
option e sounds awkward
whats the OA?

I followed Manhattan SC...
Verb agreement relating to SANAM pronouns...
Here of my friends ---plural right..But still the answer is D...am i missing something???
I guess...becos of NONE you need SINGULAR + past action still onging (you need present continous) ...hence ans needs HAS
@dks22
Well Manhattan SC says Some, Any,None,ALL and Most are exception.
They take the plural/Singular form on basis of "The Number of " construction.
Here friends(Plural form is my worry)...
I am still not clear abt singular choice...Verb tense is not issue with me ....
What Sanam Pronouns says is that the a noun object in the of phrase can be the subject of the scentence. If this sentence would have been like
djks a friend of lakshya has not been able to solve..
in this sentence you can eliminate lakshya as a possible subject because it is in the of phrase...
Now if you use of with any of the Sanam pronoun, you cannot eliminate it as a possible subject.
In this case since you are referring to any one of the friends so it can be your subject.
However there is a foot note in Manhattan that (none+ of can take either a singular or plural verb)
hope this helps!

The OA from thousand SC is A.Can someone explain??
Hi,
Lets try to eliminate the choices.
Option B:
Meaning change:Prof's philosophy speaks about one's own work;not just abt any work
Option C:
not thinking about or assessing it, but simply to do it:
Destroys parallelism. Also not clear what "it" refers to.
Option D:
not to think or assess, but doing ones own work
Again parallelism prob
Also not to think or assess does not convey the idea abt work.
Option E:
neither to think about ones own work nor to assess it, it is always simply doing it
This option again does not maintain parallel construction
So we are left only with A.
Hope this helps.
Someone please explain why the answer to this question is C and not D.
The reason I chose D is because it has "its" which explains whose oil fields. The problem seems to be with the tense but I cannot locate it....
- Alaska regularly deposits some of its profits from the sale of oil into a special fund, with the intention to sustain the states economy after the exhaustion of its oil reserves.
(B) fund, the intention of which is to sustain the states economy after they have exhausted their oil reserves
(C) fund intended to sustain the states economy after oil reserves are exhausted
(D) fund intended to sustain the states economy after exhausting its oil reserves
(E) fund that they intend to sustain the states economy after oil reserves are exhausted
A ques from OG12
As rainfall began to decrease in the Southwest about the middle of the twelfth century, most of the Monument Valley Anasazi abandoned their homes to join other clans whose access to water was less limited.
A. whose access to water was less limited
B. where there was access to water that was less limited
C. where they had less limited water access
D. with less limitations on water access
E. having less limitations to water access
The explanation says D & E are incorrect because limitations is countable, thus fewer shall be used in place of less. Agreed
But in that case, is this sentence correct
..........having fewer limitations to water access ??
Experts, please reply
Can we use 'having' as a present participle to modify clans? I request arun and others to reply

regarding
"But in that case, is this sentence correct
..........having fewer limitations to water access ??"....could be wrong. The better version "...with fewer limitations".
although "having" is correct in usages e.g. "...the boy is having(still in process) his food" but causes some ambiguity in the problem given. Little confusing though.
because (A) used the possessive pronoun "whose" , it resolves the ambiguity and is better.
