i am going to attend the international MBA fair , which is being organized on 6th of dec in mumbai..
should i go through a full length GMAT before going in for that fair so as to assess my self?
'cos what i think is that after giving the test i would be able to stage myself accordingly over there and would ask the questions keeping my approximate GMAT score in mind, apart from other queries...
as of now this is the first book, which i am preparing for the GMAT.. i had prepared for CAT last yr..
what say?????

you should take GMATPrep test no. 1.
that will help you gauge your level at this point of your preparation.
Ofcourse you can always add some points to that score if you are not thoroughly prepared for the GMAT right now.
still GMAT Prep simulator is the best indicator of your real GMAT test so try the full length.
hey manager.....even im attending the fair on dec 6th in mumbai. meet u there.
i dont know abt the use of taking the test b4 the mba fair. it sure would help u assess ur score. but u woud be putting in a lot more effort in the coming months and this score would shoot up.
BTW how r u preparing urself for the fair????

hey sandy..
i just want to assess my self and be over there in the fair with an approx GMAT total that i can score.. i feel that it wud be a lot more beneficial as i wud be knowing my threshold score that time...
by the way will u be attending any interviews being conducted by the univs..
actually i am not clear with the concept of the interviews..
CAN ANYONE THROW SOME LIGHT ON THAT??
are they like the real interviews or the dicsussions???
as of now i havent prepared myself for the fair...
this weekend i will read some blogs of the students who have already gone for the MBA abroad, go thru some more threads on PG.com and will give a mock GMAT...
what about u??
u can contact me on yahoo messenger and then we can meet each other over there in the fair on 6th...
tc
the interviews conducted in the fair are not for admissions purpose.
the aim is to get to know the universities/ college well.
In fact its reverse. you are expected to ask rep questions about the college.
In the process you will realise that GMAT is just one part of application- package.
your essays plays vital role too along with your acads / career-progress and community involvement.
You could get lots of insights from the fair. try to get the info regarding the strong point/strengths & advantages of a particular school.
demographic distribution of alumni.
finance /aid & scholarship option
You could have as many questions as you want.
but then dont expect anything super-info.
If you re regular visitor of that particular b-schools site, I am sure you wont get much extra information from their desk @ MBA fair.
still it will be an experience.
& I am eager to know from you guys, how it went once it's over.
i too am contemplating on taking a test b4 the fair. i have not been prep for the past 10 days or so. have to get back asap. can u pm me ur yahoo msg id??? i can add u?? btw wats ur name???
i dont know much abt the interview process, but as aim-wsc says, it would be the other way round. we asking them ques. .....:-)
hey guys, i took the pricetion test yest. it was a complete disaster. more than the mistakes i have to concentrate on focussing hard for 3 -4 hrs. it was very difficult. i was marking all the ansers in the end by gut feeling. i was completely famished. i didnt do well in verbal. SC was ok. rc and cr were bad. cr proved to be my nemesis yet again....
it was a nice wake up call. have to start prep with full vigour....
Sandy, would you like to share your scores with us?
i scored a pathetic 550. (q 39, v 26).
the breakup was like this
SC = r=12, w=3
CR = r=5, w=7
RC = r=7,w=7
PS= r=19,w=3
DS= r=9,w=6
(r - right
w - wrong)
in the start i got 5 wrong and 5 right. that, i feel pulled down my score drastically...
hopin to improve on it. ill be taking one this wed. will update u guys on that....
wat abt u vivek, hows prep goin on??? took any tests??? hey whrer does one find tests to take????

hey mailsatk,
OG11 is a very good book for GMAT preparation.. if u are aiming a good score , say 700+, go for the kaplan800 also..
i do agree with u that the GMAT prep books are too costly but if a person is going for the GMAT then he/she shud'nt consider the initial investments ie on the prep books..
best of luck

I agree 100%. I mean, think about it--You spend $250 on the GMAT alone and nearly $200 for every college after that. What's $200(at max) on books? Especially considering you should be able to resell ALL your books at nearly 80% of cost( see my sig

All the 700+scorers i've spoken to, bought their books(and then re-sold them) Its a lot easier to study off a book then off a computer(IMHO)
Think about it.
I am also planning to give GMAT in May 2007..(but yet to get a date..:) )
I have a couple gmat ebooks which i had downloaded from some ftp and web links.
If anyone needs a book,pm me.
Apart frm that,is there any gmat takers from NCR(noida,ggn etc)?

hey connoisseur,
there is a good source of prep material on the PG.com ..
for that u can refer the following link: http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/gmat-and-related-discussions/14958-gmat-prep-material.html
regards
Agree. You need initial invetments. And you need to study from books as much as you can. atleast i cannot concentrate hard for long on pc. giving GMAT exams is fine. but to concentrate hard for 6-7 hrs in weekends is tough. So i bought quite a few books.
