A better way would be to look at the colleges you would like to apply separately... each would have published an application deadline for the intake in 2007... appxmtly the same deadlines would apply for the next academic intake.

The rule of the thumb is..

Round 1--- October week 1
Round 2--January week 1
Round 3-- Feb Week 4 / March Week 1

Most of us solicit taking the GMAT latest by September of the year. So that you may find time to work on the application.

Something freak happened this year in CAT .. GMAT taking it on 17th april will be booking the slot day after woah help me god !!!

I WOULD ALSO LIKE O KNOW HOW MUCH GAP SHOULD THERE BE IDEALY BETWEEEN THE DAY U TAKE UR GMAT AND APPLY...... HOW MUCH TIME DOES IT TAKE FOR UR GMAT SCORE TO BE PRECESSED AND REACH THE RESPECTIVE COLLEGE

Vibhuti wrt GMAT most of the vendors sell Full Length GMAT CATs ; and there is content available on the net for freeas well; you can buy / take as many as you feel comdortable with.

Your sequencing of tests could be something like this

1) ETS Paper Test ( there are some 8 of these available for free)
2) GMAT Powerprep ( download the PP from mba.com for free and then take the 2 tests) then you can uninstall and reinstall the PP to take 2 more (most of the questions would be different.
3) Gmatter (again available on net for free)
4) Kaplan Full Length Tests *(available on a CD format with the book)
5) Score 800.com (again, available against payment)

All of the above are full length tests --and apart from the ETS papertests these are Computer Adaptive Tests (CATs).

Other than this OG11 and Kaplan800 have some very good diagnostic tests. The Kaplan also has Full Length tests.

PS.. score the content from the GMAT material thread on PG

Hey rohit,

have you finished reading manhattan SC. If not, do so. Its the best matl for sc available on the net. After finishing it, your accuracy should shoot up.

I did finish it. I think i will do that again. and i also think i need a lot of practise. Actually what is happening is that when i solve them outside of any test i get 80% accuracy but when i solve them inside the test my accuracy drops to 70. I guess taking the math and then moving to verbal is making me loose my concentration.

Hi friends,

I am also planning ot take the gmat in may sometime.

I have managed to get the OG and princeton. Which other is required? I tried to get kaplan but couldn't find it. i have tried crosswrd, strand and sterling. any ideas where i can get it?

And are there any free practice tests, online?

Hello Guys,

I am preparing for GMAT and planning to give the exam in May. I started my preparation in December. When I started, I gave a test in Kaplan without any preparation and my score was 650. Now after 2 months of preparation I gave a test using the IMS material and I see that my score is 550 😞
Now I am confused a lil bit. Has my performance degraded?? I felt IMS questions more tougher (a bit towards CAT...)
Could you guys provide some help regarding this?? how good is my score with IMS tests or do I need to still work on???
I am a little depressed after giving the IMS tests

Please help!!!

Thanks and Regards,
Priya

no probs. the only mantra i can give u is that keep working on it. dont get depressed. u still have lot of time. most of us including me hav just started preparing. give the test on princetonreview.com its free i guess.

get your study materials right. i dont think IMS for GMAT is regarded as the best.

hi priya,

dont worry, 650 on Kaplan is a pretty good score. The lower score could be a lot of things, including your nerves. I never took IMS tests, but I can tell you by experience that there is a huge difference in the GMAT Full length tests available out there. GMATPrep is by far the best indicator of the GMAT score so do take one of those.

All the best for your prep

Since you didnt mention GMATPrep, dont forget them.
padfoot

this is what I have in mind.

1) Share resources (Hard and Soft Copies of Prep Material) and knowledge (probably facts pertaining to the preparation methods / college short listing etc)

2) Make a yahoogroup -- or a mailing list and share updates / queries / results.

3) Meet once a week or as suitable at a mutualy convenient place (if required).-- this I believe would be reduced to maybe once (if at all) wrt my coming to Pune- but I would definitely suggest something on the lines of the PG meet above.

4) And most important. Make a study plan (with goals and targets say.. completing OG11 by Feb 28 or scoring PP1 on Mar1) and track it and share results using the emails list. aka Benchmarking.

Do let me know. and send me a pm with your email id.

H.

PS.. all keen on above feel free to pm me as well.
