It depends entirely on the branch....I have a friend of mine who is an SBI PO and he's posted in Delhi...Actually his branch is inside a hospital...And his working timings are 10:00 to 4:30....
And d u knw the mindset of Rural area people....Agar unko smjha smjha ke dimag bchega tabhi tyaari kr paoge aage ki.....
And ya..I haven't heard about this rural posting mandatory thing for promotions....Actually in 5 years banks me itni retirement hai ke I don't think this rural posting wud be required....
