Rahul, we are spending too much time on eco... lets diversify

Sure Abhijit. Actually these were the topics that we could not cover yesterday and they are obviously very important. Please feel free to add to the meet criteria/topics. We can decide on tomorrow's topic with that coz today every1 would have been prepared with the above one.

Is it okay ?

bali 2007
Following were discussed
1).Successor to kyoto
2). Reduce the emmission to less than half by 2050 and developed countries required to reduce it by 20-40% by 2020.
3). NAMA- nationally appropriate mitigation action--equity--developed countries need to reduce the emmision and developing countries will take actions based on the success of developed countries.
They can focus on development, poverty reduction, etc
4). Cooperative sectorial approaches and sector-specific actions (CSAs).
5). REDD: reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation.
6). adaptation: help poorer countries(finance and tech transfer)

Just a simple question bhai log.. Where are you guys having these discussions.. Over skype? Or some other thread?

today FB was facing a bit of glitch, so we have shifted to pg for today

adding to mohit's points,
In Bali, the ad hoc group((AWG-LCA)) was established to further continue the negotiations among the nations.

This agreement was opposed by US as it would lead to stalling progress.
the ambitions of reducing the emissions by half by 2050 were quite high(acc to them)

The discussion is happening here itself
The no of participants will be 3 if join us 😃

Hi Seniors,
Can we also expect serious questions from our Graduation subjects? that might need us to pay a visit to at least some of the basic subjects.

Thanks.

yeah correct, the ambitions were quite high and a deterrent for the developing nations.

Hence Copenhagen proved to be a landmark COP. Instead of trying to reach any climate change agreement, it was proposed to first form a politically binding agreement. A large diplomatic work was undertaken to lay the foundation for post kyoto.

As I read in wiki, the political accord reached during Copenhagen COP referred to a collective commitment by the developed nations, including US and china, for additional resources including forestry, climate financing.

Correct, it proposed to form a legally binding agreement by 2009(Copenhagen), which obviously didn't happen.
In the hindsight although bali conf didn't really help the environment but paved a path for it.

Hi Seniors,

I had silly thought. Generally, in GD, it is a good option that you define the keywords in the topic as in what they mean and then what they COULD mean in the context. then carry on the discussion with all possibilities. (at least what i was told).

Now, if the above holds good, is it applicable to essay also. Let me share the topic which led me to think about all this: (from last year's exp threads) Domestic Animals are Man's Best Friends

now in a GD i would have exaggerated on what friends are and how we define our friends to increase the scope of discussion but does that hold good in essay also (if the same topic comes in essay).

I hope i was able to put forward my doubt clearly.

Thanks.

has any call getter received...there iift CV forms.......

copenhagen 2009

only political accord was negotiated(No legal agreement)
$30 billion for 2010-2012

proposal to reduce co2 emission by 80% but the proposal to reduce temp rise by 1.5 were dropped
