Hi Team,


I have searched the entire WBUT site, but could not find the DGPA to percentage conversion formula. Can any senior from WBUT help in this regard.
While applying for CAT i just multiplied GPA by 10. Should I do the same ?

Hi. Can anyone help me with the following queries:


1) I have been working since mid-July 2010 and changed my job in mid-September 2011. Now if I put in my work ex as - Company 1 from July 2010 to September 2011 and Company 2 - September 2011 till date, then July 2010 will be completed as a full month and September 2011 will be counted twice. Can this get me into trouble later?

2) I am a chartered accountant and my IIMB form already mentions stage wise marks as per the CAT form. However, the final marks column is blank and I cannot even change it. Should i be concern about this?

3) Can i give a reference of a client for whom i conducted audits in my previous organization?

It is always better to provide a mixed list of referees from work place and college... ITs not mandatory but i believe that providing work place referee MIGHT benefit more than school reference.

Yes, you are exactly correct. It means academically/professionally. If i remember properly, u might have to write a line or two stating the relationship e.g " He was my mentor during blah blah project in blah blah organization"

Hi! I have a xerox copy of the mark sheet of my graduation. Will it work if i submit its scanned copy or is the scan copy of original mandatory?

Am from a PSU. Here looking at my work accomplishments, and profile and based on my appraisals, one of the Functional Director may recommend me. Is this ok?... Does it sound good or bad?

1. I guess the work ex menu is a drop down one, where you will have to select the month. If it is so, then dont worry about september getting counted twice.

2. Sorry, am not very sure of this. Please put your query up again till someone answers it properly.

3. The rules will not prevent you from doing that but if u give such a reference its importance might be watered down.. Its common perception that a client of yours will only have limited knowledge about you. IT will be better if you give it more thought.

It wont matter now if you are submitting your xerox or original scan. But they should tally if you are offered an admission. SO it's always better if you get the original scanned.

2.5 yrs years IT exp.. (Deloitte)
Category: NC- OBC

I would like to ask a question on the letter of references asked. Ideally, what kind of persons should I reach out to get a references ? Should I get it from top management from the company ? or should it be a person who works with me on a day to day basis ? I have got one from one of my reporting lead in work? What kind of reference would make the profile better? any guidance on this is really appreciated. Also, one person suggested to get one from a peer to get an perspective from a team perspective ? is it really a good idea ?

Also, how should I prepare my SOP ? any examples from Alumni (Too much of an ask 😉 )? I'm not going to use any of the sample as such but I want to read few to get an idea on how to structure my own piece..

@TTR_IIMB Hi Again, thanks for the clarification for my last query.
Another one on references. One of my supervisors who I worked with very closely left the firm in December, and right now is in his garden leave period. I will be adding his personal email id in the contact details. What do you suggest for the Organisation/Designation since designation seems to be mandatory?

@TTR_IIMB I have a query that in my class 12 th marksheet ,it has been mentioned that i have to add marks above passing marks in a subject to aggregate without dividing by an extra 100 in total. so i have filled my cat form according to that so pls tell will that be a problem??? i know that u dont know for sure but what is ur take??? pls reply asap

@sunny1987 write to the admissions office. If what you are saying is explicitly mentioned in your gradesheet, I do not see any problem arising due to it
