Your GMAT score is surely not the cause of your rejection. Had it been the reason they would not have called you up for the interview(i assume you were called) at the first place. ISB looks for an overall development and in your case I find your working area a very attractive stuff. You may give the exam again at your wish but my advice would be to focus more on other areas. As Mustang pointed out the small things can make the difference. Keep on hosting those meetings and get something meaningful out of them, frame them up and articulate them. That is the way my friend.
ATB.
Hi Guys, I m new to Pagalguy. Got the regret letter from ISB on 15th informing me that I was not selected. Have decided to reapply for the class of 2014. My Profile: Class X : 75 % Class XII : 84 % B. Tech in Mech. : 8.1 CGPA (out of 10) GMAT : 660 (Still wondering how I got a call for the interview)....:D Working in the construction industry with an experience of 5+ years. Not much in extra curricular activities except arranging get togethers in the office and management of two fests in college.
Am planning to take GMAT again somewhere around May first week. Any suggestions how I can do more on the extra-curricular front or comments on my profile in general would be welcome.....
Hi Guys, My regret letter says that 'Several members of our Committee carefully evaluated your application in the following areas: work experience, career plans, academic, extra curricular and community involvement, leadership and interpersonal skills. Decisions are based upon an evaluation of your individual strengths and weaknesses, as well as your qualifications relative to those of our applicants'. Does it mean that I need to improve in all these fields or is there an other way to get to know where my application needs to be worked upon....
Please count me in. My profile: Ashish Agarwal GMAT score: 710( Q=50, V=35) Work ex: 7+ will be 8 before application Presently working with B.P.C.L. ( Oil & gas sector) Exp: cross country pipeline projects
Is there any one else from the same field applying this year. Kindly pm me.
I had a couple, and i had a terrible night slept next day :-), I think i drank a couple of Rockstar in USA. that night was wierd, i had a bad stomach for so many days π .

Hello Everybody here. I am a newbie to GMAT path. Followed CAT this year and did not get the desired result. First thing first, my profile is as follows:
Class 10: 87.83% (Rajasthan Board) Class 12: 91.38% (Rajasthan Board) Graduation: 7.86/10
Work-ex: 26 months as of now with TCS.
International Internship during graduation. Apart from above, less than average co-curriculars.
I know my profile is the most common one.
Now, I don't know much about whats and wheres for GMAT. If I score 700+ (dont laugh reading this, I dont know how tough it is to score this much but I am just putting a bar, just for the sake of it) would it help my chances of getting in there a lot or marginally? What else do I need to work upon, so that I can have a fair, or lets say more than average, chance of making it into there.
Just need to have an insight about ISB and get a feel for GMAT. Just as I am over with my CAT calls, I will start prepping for GMAT as per the circumstances. Waiting for your replies. :-)

ATB to all.
Your acad grades look great! GMAT is for the adcom to verify your capability in that aspect. So, I believe you are good for it already π Just my $0.02. As for the rest of the profile, you might want to check with the adcom itself, from April-May onwards! Cheers
Hi guys... I appeared for gmat earlier but ended up with less than 600 score π nemesis was verbal.
I have gone through SC grail, manhattan CR and OG etc. but somehow can't understand what exactly went wrong. At the time of test..got little nervous π not sure if this could be the only reason.
Boss you need to find out the mistake yourself. You have gone through the best books. Make sure you got the concepts right. How was your performance in the mocks?

Thanks for your reply.. It used to be much better than actual gmat.. between 650-710 on MGMAT.. Looking at the test score felt, need to work on almost everything SC,RC,CR π but yes, for few questions on SC just felt its difficult to determine correct ans!

get hold of manhattan SC, CR bible( the best for CR) and aristotle RC( for practice) . These helped me a lot in improving my verbal, hope they will help you too. For SC, try solving qsns posted on beatTheGmat forum, and think about the meaning of the sentence before attempting to look for errors. Take a break and give it another shot ATB
Koi start-up mein naukri de do yaar. if you really know of some start-ups and openings PM me :P
arre yaar even i was in such a phase a year back. Had this belief that since it will be a startup, a good amt of responsibility in various roles will do a lot of good personally n professionally. But getting it is difficult. The reasoning comes from the fact that in a startup, money is one of the main things. So one would really want ppl who are really skillful and might not wanna experiment during the startup phase. If one were an MBA or a skilled resource of a particular function then it might not be dat difficult to get a role related to that.

This is wat i wud do if i were in ur place.
even while doing verbal questions, i wud answer all d questions first, say in sets of 15 each. While marking answers for each questions, I wud make a note of every option of every question - why is it wrong or why is it right. You can make small note on the side of ur answer sheet also.
Then once you have answered all the questions of the set, check the answers. First, for the variations in right/wrong. How frequently you are making a wrong choice. Second, even if all the questions are right, I would recommend you to read the answer options and see why the other options are wrong and why whatever you have marked is correct. Verify against the notes that you made. This way you will know that whatever you answered was based out of concepts and was not a one-shot, one-time correct answer.
Follow the same procedure for wrong answers. Check the reasoning given against each option and the reasoning that you made a note of.
Do this, though time consuming initially, and it will build concepts for you and then later as you practice more and more, you will become more confident.
hi folks I m new to this community..my acads are as folows:

i need guidance puys please help me out ....
In addition to what White said, I would suggest to start once again with the Manhattan SC guide first. read( and learn) it exhaustively. then jump on to OG and do it the way White has suggested. That will take some time but believe me it works. Additionally you can monitor your performance by giving mocks every weekends and thoroughly analyzing them after completion. I think this should work for you this time.
