have seen any calls at all for r2
Fellow Puys.....what is the significance of one word essay to be written just before i/v.Does ISB wants to examine our thought process or is it just a co-relation check to ensure that the application essays have indeed been written by us? What impact does it have on overall application?
anyone here aware of R2 interview calls being rolled out??
hi, how is the process of one word essay if the interview is telephonic.. I mean does one have to write it at interview or one has to keep it prepared but that does't make sense. Thanks

Posting after quite some time. I don't know if anyone is putting together any doc about interview experiences this year. I am an R1 admit and here is my interview experience ..
Profile - 720/F/IT
Interviewed on 8th Nov, Delhi, 5:10PM .
Mine was the last slot of the day and the panel was running around 2 hours late. When I entered the room, there was only 1 lady in the panel. She apologized profusely for keeping me waiting. She also explained the other member (1 guy from adcom) had left as they had misplaced the application of the guy interviewed just before me, and hence the additional delay (panel was running abt 1 hr late until 4PM).
1. When did you go to US and when did you return
2. Tell me about your profile
3. What did you like best about your international exp (I have about 5 yrs of WE in US)
Explained what I liked
4. If I liked it so much, then why did I come back
Gave my reasons
She said thats rare, since most ppl in my position would not return ... more discussion.. the conversation lasted pretty long here .. we ended up discussing work hour, exchange rate, bringing up kids in these 2 countries (I have kid), germs - anti bacterial hand wash!!, adaptability ...
5. Difference in work culture in America, Europe, Asia - I had mentioned in my app that I have worked with teams across the globe
- Who did you like working with most
6. Explain analytics (I work in Business Analytics )
7. Example of how Big Data (another analytics buzz word) can be used
8. How are you using analytics in your current job profile
9. How have you used analytics in a creative manner - example
cross questioning on this one
10. Questions about my skiing experience (talked abt it in my essay) .. some technicalities of skiing (i did not expect the panel to discuss this, but apparently she knew skiing as well!) .. conversation veered to my sports achievements, extra curriculars ...
11. post mba which company you would like to work for
answered Google - she asked abt maps on iphone (recent iphone 5 maps issue) - talk about Google, Apple
12. Any questions for us -
Umm... I was surprised that it was getting over since we had not talked abt my management, leadership exp at all.
I guess she read my mind, as she then she asked how long have I managed teams
13. How do I motivate my team
14. How do I work with the reluctant/unwilling team members
Thats it ... shook hands, she apologized again for the delay
The interview lasted about 40mins. Overall a very good experience, no stress, just conversational. The panel was very cordial, and very knowledgeable.

Dear Madam,
Thank you, this is almost Talibani mindset which believes in crushing any uncomfortable truth or believes in singular version. Who is spreading rumors, I have more than half of my batch mates & colleagues of third batch alone who will vouch for the veracity of facts I have sent. Have you seen the placement committee report of 3rd batch ? What is my designation mentioned ? What are the facts of placement , how many were really placed? Average figures of salary is it not canard ? This gets repeated year after year. Self interest blinds us to stand for truth and fairness however conscience demands that someone convey the hard reality. Is this course really adding any value at all?
I shall stand up for what I believe is right thing to do.

Dear Mr Singh
Thankyou for your email. We have been compelled to suspend your email account for the following reasons:
1. For some time now we have compiled sufficient factual evidence that you have used the iimcal email account for rumour mongering and spreading incorrect information about the Institute program and in the process defaming the Institute as a whole.
2. You have misused the iimcal email account (a facility extended free of cost for legitimate use only) to forward emails intended only for alumni to multiple recipients
3. Please note that IIM Calcutta does not guarantee placements for its students and has never made any such claims.
We do not believe we have curbed your freedom of expression in any way. Please feel free to use all other freely available email accounts to continue reducing information assymetries about 1 year MBA programs. Also, please feel free to "take judicial recourse for protecting fundamental right of freedom of expression enshrined in constitution", although IIMCalcutta has not violated your freedoms in any way. Meanwhile, please be informed that based on the information and evidence which are with us, the IIM Calcutta is seriously contemplating filing a defamation suit, both criminal and civil, against you and your employer for whom you are working.
Thanks and regards

Dear Madam,
I understand that my account has been disabled at request of PGPEX Chairman. I guess the reason would be my being outspoken critic of one year MBA courses . Let me convey that this is not targeted at IIM Calcutta only but to all courses as information asymmetry is too high. I shall continue to stand for the uprightness and transparency . I I have conveyed these mails to all my employers also as I maintain a single face and dont belief in colouring the reality for furthering my vested interests.
Below mail is the gist which I have been sending to all contacts including prospective students who ask my opinion for admission in any of these courses. If my account is not restored within a working day then I shall not hesitate to take judicial recourse for protecting fundamental right of freedom of expression enshrined in constitution. Looking forward to hear from you,

Despite increasing volume of information , how many times we get to know the real picture. The housing bubble burst bringing down many so called hallowed financial institutions with it but myth of MBA continues. Let us talk about first one year full time executive MBAs. They are turning into nightmarish exp for most but people don €™t have intellectual honesty to admit it. That is understandable as who would want to portray that whatever investment they have made has made no difference to their careers. Rather for most it has made them worse off than candidates who didnot fall into trap of transformation, MBAs are supposed to bring. As those folks saved at least 35 to 60 lacs. Having witnessed that most of the students getting into same role with similar salary they were drawing prior to the course was truly a revelation. The opportunity cost of these courses is close approx 35-60 lacs ( Tuition fee 15-20 lac+ interest of 6-10 lacs, foregone salary of one year, living expenses of close to 3-4 lacs) . The harsh reality is that people struggle to return to their organisations as well if positions are filled.
As we progress in our career, the only thing that matters is relevant experience and domain knowledge . Market believes competencies can only be acquired by performing that role for min 3-4 years . Studying a few modules of finance, strategy , marketing or operations may provide some theoretical knowledge but it doesn €™t add much value at least as far as employability in a different role is considered. 70% of folks in these courses are from IT most of the time whose expertise is in Delivery which is already in excess in market. Even for other roles in IT or Manufacturing , it is turning into graveard. IT folks are driving these courses in their misplaced zeal to change their career as growth has subsided It changes almost invariably for worse. Almost all from PSU and Govt have been returning continously to the parent orgainsation after the course.
Very few share the true picture and worse when at least some do, people dont believe it. we have to pass this message to all experienced colleagues if they are thinking that one year MBA is the path to glory.

Information asymmetry is unfathomable in life be it marriage, education, job or relationship. Having done one such course myself, I know the reality hard way.
Those betting on return in long term would do well to remember Keynes - In long term we are dead.
Let the truth triumph.
do we have any spreadsheet where profiles of R2 applicants are tracked? similar to https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AkGkc0yWHIvAdE9DZ2UwbDB4TlIxZkpnZnZITUpEemc#gid=0
