ISB Class of 2014 aspirants.

Hi Puys,

Had got a ding in 2008 and then couldn't reapply for 4 years due to various personal+professional reasons. Am thinking of joining the race this year - will start on the application next month (and also on working out the finances!!)

Vital Stats:
- M/33
- 11.5 yrs of IT Industry experience, currently working as a Senior Project Manager with a leading Indian IT MNC
- GMAT 740/6.0
- ECs: Some writing & photography
- Education: REC Nagpur, OK-OK grades

In short, a typical IIM candidate :)

cheers

Oh you can get "evaluated" by ISB adcom even before you seek admission?

What is the result of this evaluation?

Write a mail to [email protected] with your provile details. They will provide their feedback and provide a counsellor. You can get in touch with your counsellor and tell him about your profile and ask his feedback.

Did this last year and was really helpful.

Cheers.
Hi Puys

I am new to this thread and I have also just started thinking about ISB.
I am an ISB 2014 Aspirant and I am yet to give my GMAT. I was hoping to take a date in mid August. A few queries -

1. Will GMAT in Aug Mid be too late for ISB?

Apologies if this is a repeated question.

Thanks in advance!

Not sure about the dates this year.. Last year it looked like below. Aug. mid should be good enough to meet R1 deadline from last year.

Key Dates for PGP 2012-13 Cycle-1 Domestic
Application Deadline September 15, 2011 23:59:59 Hrs (Indian Time)
Offer Date On or before Nov 15, 2011
Cycle-2 :
November 30, 2011 23:59:59 Hrs (Indian Time)
Offer date On or before Feb 15, 2012
Write a mail to [email protected] with your provile details. They will provide their feedback and provide a counsellor. You can get in touch with your counsellor and tell him about your profile and ask his feedback.

Cheers.

Is there any specific subject line to use?

You told my heart out man!!
I was also in the race for 2014 after getting reject after i/v from ISB...however, finally decided to go for XLRI GMP to put an end to the race...there are other things in life ;)

Anyway ATB for your ISB race and GMAT!

Hi! I am in line for the class of 2014! need to give my GMAT first will apply for R1 and knock it out of the park by November ( please don't confuse the positivity for arrogance :lookround: ).

In the interim i need to work out a GMAT strategy and set up a GMAT Group in Gurgaon. I have been through a large part of this thread and haven't come across a post for someone looking to set up a study group in Gurgaon. Anyone interested?

Also, before beginning my prep i'm looking at all the counselling websites and blogs about getting into ISB / getting into a good MBA college.

Can anyone advise on how they would recommend starting the whole process / what they did / what would be the most effective way of going about the whole process?

Any help will be more than appreciated.

Thank you

Hi
Am a newbie :, 1st time on PG... good to see this thread :cheerio:
Ever since I planed doing my MBA, ISB have been my 1st choice & probably the only choice.
Just a quick question.. am planing to take GMAT around September this year... will It be too late to apply for R2..??
And about the GMAT prep.. am thinking of going Simple on this(not following too many books), All I've got is
-->1.The GMAT OG 12th edition -->2.Kaplan GMAT & some CAT material from TIME(aiwayi :P)... thats it..!
just wanna get some advice if this is Enough or should I follow any other book, my target score would be anything 720+.
Thanx in advance..!

Quick question all,
I am also an aspirant for 2014 class, I have done my Masters degree in United states and working here from 3 years, I am working on application now..., my question is while submitting documents "Do i have to submit my Bachelors transcripts, other than my Bachlors degree ?"
I have transcripts of my Masters degree and all other requirements.

anyone who can suggest or comment on this would be helpfull

2) What GMAT score would I require
IMO - the answer you will get is "there is no such thing as a good or bad GMAT score" - or something to that effect. If you have a decent enough profile, then 680 is OK. Remember - your GMAT score is looked at only once - to determine whether to consider your application further or not.

3) How should I go about submitting my application.
This definitely is a redundant question. The application is entirely online, and the process is extremely easy and straightforward. In the unlikely event that you don't understand a part of the application (after you begin), you can always reach out to AdCom/ current students on pg - they are among the most helpful people I've encountered.

cheers & ATB

With two campuses in India, is placement process of ISB also centralized? I read the ISB website it says that though we can give preference for the location, if selected they cannot guarantee the location

hi..most of the posts that i have read on this thread pertain to applying in R1, whereas i intend to write the GMAT by September end and apply in R2. would that be too late or is there any disadvantage of not applying in R1? Pl reply, as i need to plan my preparation accordingly..

Remember - your GMAT score is looked at only once - to determine whether to consider your application further or not.

I don't think the process works that way. It's not as if a sub-par GMAT score means an application will be rejected without reading it further. GMAT is merely one component and has a defined relative importance in the overall application process.
A bad GMAT score does not guarantee rejection and a good GMAT score does not guarantee admission, it all boils down to how you structure your application and how much effort you put into the process.
Thanks for your clarification! Well at least I got one thing correct, I hope - "there is no such thing as a good or bad GMAT score" :)

cheers

Absolutely, I have seen cases where an applicant got in with sub-par scores and people with stellar scores were left wondering on what went wrong. You will find a few cases if you dig around on the PG forums.

However to establish some context - many applicants will have a score well north of 700 and these same people will be competing for a limited number of seats. When I was a student there, the average score was 719, so basically don't let your guard down any time!!

Hey Puys!!!!

Any idea when the portal will open????

As per admission portal "Two evaluations/recommendations in the prescribed format available on the application portal" is needed while submitting your applications.

but where is prescribed format?

Puys,

your kind help required.

Ask the same questions you and others ask on this thread.. How is your profile? what are the drawbacks? is it suitable to ISB? discuss your long term goals..
I suggest talk as much as you can and get all your doubts about your profile and application clear..

Another suggestion is to steer clear of questions like: when will the application window open?what is the format for recommendation?can I apply online?bla bla blaa.. I hope you get the picture.. These details will be available when the time comes.. but u won't get to talk to a ISB person everytime.

Cheerio..!!
