ISB Class of 2014 aspirants.

Hi Puys,

Also it will be good if you could recommend a few good mock tests for GMAT..

I can only appear for 3-4 before my GMAT, so guide accordingly...
Thanks..

IMO , Manhattan Tests are closest after Gmatprep..there are other tests also available in market like Kaplan, 800score, etc....but Gmatprep is best among all...and you can take it multiple time....

Hi Gaurav,

Thank you very much for your response...
Just a couple of queries:
1. Where can I find them? Any link?
2. While seraching the net, I encountered some ppl complaining that verbal section in actual gmat was tougher than gmatprep and manhattan. Is that really the case?
Dear puys,
have never given GMAT but what are my chances for selection at ISB??
please reply as ISB is the my only motivation for GMAT.

Puys,
Please evaluate my profile for ISB

Hi Puys,

I am new here and would really appreciate if some of you would answer some of my queries as well as evaluate my profile. Please plzz be kind to guide as per my queries..

This is my first attempt at GMAT and ISB is my only motivation for it, so please evaluate with respect to that.

Fellow aspirants, Please do understand that we do not do profile evaluation. :nono::nono::nono: The reason for that being, the information that you provide in few lines here is totally insufficient to know you, especially judge you.

It is best to approach ISB for a discussion on profile as they help out aspirants on that front. Just send them a mailer and you will surely get a reply from them.

Hi...want to anyone requested for Application feedback applied for 2012-2013 cycle?

I think many of us have asked for feedback and are awaiting one still!

1. What are my chances for ISB considering 700+ score at GMAT?
What if I said 19.326%... or 64.928%... or 95.8915%? How do you make sense of that?

3. Where can I get the code of colleges which we have to enter at the end of GMAT, when asked to send scores to five b-shools?
You will be able to search for the schools at the end of your GMAT. There's no need to carry school codes with you - although you are welcome to do so.

GMATPrep and Kaplan are a must. I've heard a lot of people badmouthing Princeton, but it helped me for AWA.

cheers

Hahahahahaha - I think that's one of the best replies I've read for "My GMAT score is X, what chance do I have?" ;)

Jokes apart - folks, please just concentrate on getting the best possible score and then writing best possible essays. Worrying about jazz like "What are my chances?" or "should I apply given my profile?" is meaningless.

If you are confident about yourself then "chances" would not daunt you and if you are not sure about your own abilities then the I seriously doubt the verdict of an anonymous stranger would really be the magic bullet that transforms your life.

GMAT prep you can download for free from mba.com
Manhattan tests come with any book you purchase of Manhattan, such as Sentence correction.....also they are availabel separetly..but I don't know about the price..you cna check on Manhattan site for that..

About verbal level..it's personal opinion..for some one it might be tough, for other a cakewalk....for me it was a bit on higher side..but if you are thorough with concepts...and are avoiding guess work it is doable(read that not so easy)..but again a personal opinion....the mocks that you give ..provides you a fair idea

Hi All,
With ISB application live, I was thinking if we can have a meetup on coming weekend in Bangalore..just to brainstorm on the application, discuss on the preparation of GMAT, how are we planning on approaching the application..

If everyone is game for it..let's meetup this Sunday (May 12) at 11 AM at Airlines Hotel?

Let us know and we can plan up.

Yeah tricky situation....I am repenting why didnt I apply in R1 this year :banghead:

anyway , I have got thru XLRI GMP. Planning to join XLRI beacuse :
1. Not sure about ISB feedback. If something to be worked on , the I have to apply R2 when competition is more. If its something thats manageable in 3 months, then also a percentage of uncertainty remains.
For me this is te high time for MBA.
2. XLRI has healthy batch size of 120 ..not a mammoth one as 770...
3.Fee is little less..

And finally...loved XLRI more than any IIM (got a call from XL last year couldnt convert :()

Puys pour in your opinions..

Congrats bro. :)
Very happy for you.

Hi..I am planning to Apply for ISB in 2013. Yet to take Gmat.
I would still advise you to register at the ISB portal - it's free unless you want to submit your application. It'll give you a good hang of how things are and what to expect next year.

1) Is there a probable chance in getting into ISB with the profile?
Yes, there always is a probable chance.

2) How many times ISB allows admit in a year..like once or..they have spring and fall admits?
The ISB has two admissions rounds - R1 & R2. R1 ends in November, and that's when R2 begins. You can get further details from the application portal.

3) Does the Graduation College matter while getting an Admit?
I would suppose so... Something like - a lower GPA from an IIT might be as good as or better than a higher GPA from an NIT.

4) For How many years is Gmat score valid..and does ISB accept scores of Gmat taken in earlier years?
As of now, it's valid for 5 years. ISB accepts the GMAT score as long as it is valid. However, the IIMs that host executive MBA programs do not accept scores more than 3/4 years old (3 years for IIMA and 4 for IIMC & IIMB).

5) Any idea of the Gmat score i should be aiming at?
800/ 6.0

6) Which ways shall is try to improve my Profile?
IMO - it's difficult to say with the limited info that can be shared online. If you are not sure, then you could try and seek help from alums or professional consultants? Or maybe some puy here could be in a position to help you with this.

7) My hobby if Photography..so i am presently pursuing a Certification course in that..does this add to my EC?
I'm not sure on this one... i.e., whether you need a certification or not. You could demonstrate good skills and learning without certification too... Thoughts, fellow puys?

cheers and ATB

Found out that I've lost my std X marksheets + certificates :banghead::banghead:

Now to begin the process of applying for duplicates and hoping that they reach me on time!

One more headache, that too when I least wanted it..

As far as I remember, ISB does not ask for 10th certificates from male applicants. If you are a female applicant, you need to submit that probably, and that's because you are being considered for some scholarships which are there for female students.

Hi,
pls evaluate my profile.
10th - 90%
12th - 89.75%
Engineering - 74%
Around 2.5 years in the IT industry as a developer. haven't really gained much of management experience. but would like to make up some how. would like to make the planet a greener place to live and in membership with a popular NGO in that regard. yet to give GMAT. As for extracurriculars, i've participated in sports events during school days and do have a bunch of certificates.

what are my chances with ISB?? i do understand that management experience is lacking. how can i make up for this?. will it have a negative impact that i'm working in IT industry??
kindly help... Thanks in advance πŸ˜ƒ

For starters.. give the GMAT and get a good score.. The score is valid for 3 years..
Since you are in the IT pool, a higher GMAT will cetainly help.
