ISB Class of 2014 aspirants.

My Intuition says 4th is the last day for Calls.....

Best of luck all of you.......
@raghupro @waterman have heard a lot about a place called KISMAT ??

Ekdum jhakass is it ??

@StadiumArcadium : Buddy ISB is awesome for consulting and very very good for Marketing and finance too. Its a brand name we all are aspiring to get attached to.

For GMAT prep: Manhattan is good . But I would suggest you join GMAT prep threads on GMATCLUB and BEATTHEGMAT dot coms
Shall help you a lot.

For essays: I would suggest write on your own. I am not a great fan of professional help on those. But thats me being me. You see what you would want to do.

B T W curious to know: why this name ??
@Kode_A Thank you so much on clearing the air and for the advice on GMAT preps. I will make a note of these two sites and join them for sure. 😃

Yes, I do plan on writing the essays by myself. Probably, will get them checked by my dad or someone, that's it :)

The name derives from an album of one of my fav. bands, Red Hot Chili Peppers :)

Guys, I am a newbie at GMAT. Any idea when are we supposed to start the process of applying to ISB for 2014-2015 class? and how long does it usually take to write the essays?
Looking at ur sig... You might still be fresh with all the prep. So take the GMAT asap. You will need to work on verbal. Plz dont use CAT material for preparing. Buy GMAT official guide. It will give you enough practice. If you feel that you are lacking in an area then buy the respective MGMAT book(s). One MGMAT book will give u access to 6 practice exams. Follow one of the forums to help you sail thru GMAT.

Once you get a satisfactory score... FORGET ABOUT GMAT. And start concentrating on the essays. You have 4-5 months to crack the gmat. After that depending on your situation you can target R1 or R2 admits. And @raghupro is right. Spot your evaluators and work on ur essays.

Unlike other schools in India, ISB follows a very holistic (read different and complete) evaluation. It will take some time to understand how the whole process works. I would also suggest that you attend info sessions organised by ISB throughout the year. They are a big help. Find a way to connect with alumni or current student (hint: some of us on this thread) to help you through the app process.

You can reach out to fellow puys when the process begins. After a while this forum feels like virtual home :)

@raghupro I stayed there for three days and actually, I saw everything under construction. But I will plan my trip again. But nothing like Bangalore , the fresh Air. I took a flight from Delhi(cold weather)to Bangalore(獯ber moderate) to Hyderabad( 30 degrees in JAN). I was freaking out on my driver to switch on the AC and he was yelling at me with inbuilt hyderabadi Adab(respect) for visitors- sir ji , AC full pe hona... then I asked him to take me to the best place at hyderbad, so he took me to the very popular Chudee Market(intensely populated). Never seen such a market in my life, people full of small entrepreneurs, everybody selling something. Remarkable experience. What is the population of Hyderabad?
That is part of old city dude. You get to see some intensely populated streets over there! The newer part of the city is where things happen! Hyderabad population is definitely lower than other metros man. I think it is around 70 lakhs or something.

Bhai jaan, there are loads of options, certainly not at par with cities like mumbai, bang yet. We have enough options to squeeze out a wild day between hectic schedules, and yeah kismet is a kewl place. @raghupro saaar can add more to it, he lives quite close to it.

Its even more fun for you then coz its gonna be your first time, you know, first time it feels crazy, second time you try to forget the glitter and look out for chicks like a hitter, third time you forget the chicks too and look for chips to accompany your licks, and later on you only go for the heck of it :P...
@raghupro .. be optimistic... calls will be out till monday.. :)

Don't loose hope.. be optimistic like me.. low gmat, IT bckgrnd, less than 2yrs of wrk ex..... still expecting a call.. :)

PS- I am not overconfident.. I have reviewed my profile from some gud ppl and I could get a call as per them that's why waiting....

Remember- Hope is bigger than Pope( I made this Just now)

I wish mate but I am fed up of this "Your profile is SuperDuperMindBlowinglyInsalelyAwesome" praises yaar.. Things don't matter at some point and right now the only thing that matters to me is to talk to the adcom in April and get a detailed feedback on my profile.

But anyways, good that you are still optimistic man. I hope things come true as you wish!
@StadiumArcadium Taking a cue from @Kode_A I dug out the biggest motivational piece on GMAT. Please read this and I am sure by the end of it you will start rooting for this guy. The same thing happens here. You have all the support. Make the best use of the opportunity.

One difference that I found between CAT and GMAT is that GMAT is more
consistent. Each question is standardised after passing thru various stages. So you can be sure that if you prepare well and understand what GMAT is testing you on.... you can easily crack it.

@raghupro........... Best of luck....
@srm85 What an awesome link!! Although I haven't read it completely right now, but I could make out that it's pretty informative. Thank you for sharing. Bookmarked and going to read it as soon as I log outta PG. And yes, this is one thing about GMAT I wish CAT had. Again, thank you all and I will wish for a convert for all of you. :)
@raghupro bro I sincerely request you to give GMAT again.
your profile is say good. But lets assume it was not good enough. At least for ISB adcom.
You can either spend your time saying: I ll show them I am better than they think I am (at least I was in that mode when I didnt get any call last year but soon realized its a system which has to be beaten. Nothing is personal)
or next time when u strike be stronger faster and awesomer.

I want to see you do really good in life bro. with or without ISB.
But give your 100%. You still havent.

People (we) praise you coz you have helped almost all.
Only Raghu can help Raghu himself.
I ll be really glad to hear success story.
