also i have already joined one of the mba programme in Singapore , but would like to join isb if i can convert the interview , any of you feel if its ok to tell isb that ?? or telling them that i am here for some reasons will be a better idea ?
That's interesting! Have you just started with this program in SG? If you bring this up then it can be turn out to be a very interesting conversation with the panel. Quite likely, this will not be something they would have talked about with any other candidate. If you have a well-thought, convincing reasoning for this decision then I would say go for it. It should make sense to them. And don't make them think that you might leave ISB in the middle of the program for another school! ;)

Hi Puys,

For everyone still waiting for an i/v call, I just called up ISB and they said that they have sent out ALL i/v invites, even for Hyderabad. Guess for this year, the wait is over for everyone. :-(

If anyone can confirm this by calling up ISB, that would be great.

Hi guys. Had my interview yesterday. It was sort of ok and i could have done a way lot better. In fact the more i think about it the more i feel i screwed it up 😞 .. The panel was great and very chilled. Here it goes

I had three alums in the interview. Initially they simply asked about how did i find hydrabad to get me comfortable.

Q1: u are a female candidate how will u manage ur personal and professional life.
Q2: he gave me a puzzle. I gave a wrong answer and then he gave the correct one and asked me to think like an engg. I sort of could have solved it but my mistake being didnt take too long before answering it.
Q3: asked about a tool i had developed and how did it help
Q4: asked me how can i differentiate myself from other candidates. I think this is another place where i could have done better but just couldnt bring the right words.. In spite of practicing few things just dont go as planned.
Q5: how do i motivate the team i lead.

I think there were few other questions here and there but these were the major ones. The panel was great. I in fact thanked them before leaving for not making it a stress interview. I have not had many mock interviews. It would be nice for u guys to have a proper mock interview. But all in all it was ok from my end and as i said could have gone a lot better. Fingers crossed....

Yup I confirmed.... U r right...

Hello Guys,

Had my interview yesterday. Questions were pretty straight from my profile as were my answers, directily on my goals. No standard questions at all - Y ISB, Y u, Y mba and all..

It was for around 25 mins and rather a discussion..

Keeping the fingers crossed..

Is it just me or are the days getting longer as we near the D-Day?

@punters11 for me, its completely opposite! So long I had been dying to see feb 15th.. but now the time is just flying and i just dont want feb 15th to come.. the feeling that i "may be in" is surely better than the feeling that i m "not in"...unless the best is in store that i am "actually IN" πŸ˜ƒ πŸ˜ƒ :)

I share the same feeling... 15th seems like a very loooong wait n i jus want to get over with it so that i can move on with my life....

Lying is the biggest curse in any interview leave it ISB/MBA. having said that you can avoid some truths :p
are you in Spore just for doing MBA? if so please do tell them if they ask. If you are working and doing a part time / executive MBA you can afford to avoid it.
But already doing an MBA might also favor you, as you are telling that you are serious abt MBA. In whatever circumstances if you had to tell that you are already pursuing an MBA, make sure you have genuine and strong answer why you will not leave ISB for another school. I agree with @atlas7 on this.
@p.neha reminds me of my intv last year @Sing'pore for ISB. Wishing u the best...

@freesurfer Its true the invites are all out for R2 tats wat admission team informed. So all folks who waited like me, time to let go.. Good luck with future :)

Hi all, It is saddening and disheartening that some of the deserving candidates didn't get the interview call but I wish all the best to everyone. Whether it be ISB or not, you guys will be successful in your life. Rock on πŸ˜ƒ All the Best.

Hey, anybody interested in starting a ISB class of 2015 thread? I believe that some puys have more experience than me ( fresher) in this regard. We can discuss our strategies, scores, what went wrong, feedback from ISB, etc.

I know this is late and won't add much value to most of the people here, but still. I had my interview yesterday and here is my debrief -

There were about 20-25 candidates interviewing that day (including 2 fellow puys). Most of them were from IT background from what I sensed. The word I was given was 'Sanity'.

The panel I got had 3 senior alums (none from an IT background).

Here are the interview questions -
- Pleasantries, introduction, about my journey from Bangalore.
- Why did you choose that e-mail ID?
- Tell us about yourself
- How are you different from other IT applicants?
- Critically evaluate the iPad and let us know what you think.
-Which phone do you have and how would your views on the merits/demerits
-Tell us about a really challenging situation that you faced. They weren't too convinced with my answer and grilled a quite bit on this. Eventually, I guess I was able to communicate my point (or they just gave up)
- Why CFA?
- Tell us about a recent leadership role that you have taken
- About an international internship that I did in college.
- Why did you go there?
- What is the economic scenario there
- What are the major advantages that country has
- What does your company do?
- About my product
- How is the competition?
- 2 strengths and 2 challenges for your company?
- Market sizing estimation to launch an existing product (in India)

Lasted for about 30-35 minutes and then I asked a few questions. No standard questions like - Why MBA, why now? Future goals? Why ISB? etc.

Takeaways-
- Take mocks. They help a LOT! There were about 3-4 questions there which I had practiced during mocks.
- Know you industry and the business around that. Facts, figures, general news, anything that you quote.
- Have an open mind. There will certainly be questions which you never expected.
- Examples, examples and examples (Vidya Balan style! ) wherever you can quote to support a claim.

puys cheer up!!!!!! cos ISB is not the "ONLY thing" tat matters in life. I can assure you tat sitting inside the campus rite now... πŸ˜ƒ

All Frens who didnt get interview calls :

I would want to say what I ve been saying over and over again.
Your strength is your dreams and your goals. with ISB or without ISB it doesnt matter.

I am mentally prepared to take up Narsee Monjee 2 yrs MBA in Mumbai or XLRI GMP if ISB doesnt happen.

This whole process of preparing for GMAT and then essays and college admission process was like Poulo Coelho's "THE ALCHEMIST" or Rabin Sharma's "THE MONK WHO SOLD HIS FERRARI" kinda journey for us all.

Chances are very bright majority of us on this forum shall not get admit in 2014 (me no exception) but that wont change what we are.

world Belongs to strong people, lets be this awesome and kick some b**s :)

Cheers,
@bindas_k - Why this thread is as active as CAT thread ?? coz we dont have anything better to do in life :(
sad truth.
25L in India is way too much, I do undersand that. All those who are not chasing a MBA dream say its not worth 25L, specially when other colleges are charging anything from 10 - 18L max.

but ISB is a brandname known and respected in the global market. In consulting for sure.

If plans are to work in India, I think other decent colleges too do the trick .

@Rajat_S - dude whats your email ID ?? :)

Cheers,
@Kode_A its me.rajat..if its was loverboy/rajnikanth/hot**whatever i could understand...dunno why they found it funny/offensive/interesting.
