@srm85 Not sure on this IIMB thing . I got an interview with 600 GMAT ( my 610 is 2009 one and not accepted) 10th 76% and 12th 71% . Not close to spectacular by any stretch of imagination !!!
Did you get selected into the program? They made it pretty clear that they need to see strong acads. Interview is just one of the hurdles. I don't know whether the results are out. But you might be given an admit because of your other qualifications. But I seriously doubt how much importance, if any, do they give to extra qualifications/certifications.
I have spent 3 yrs after my graduation to strengthen my qualifications because I wanted to work in an interdisciplinary field. I have performed really well due to those qualifications. But they indicated that 10th, 12th and graduation is what matters most. All those are "extra".
@srm85 can you please tell us what are the qualifications that you did? Even those are 'extra' they can still prove that you can handle academic pressure along with work pressure.

I also attended IIMB's infosession and met some current students and alumni. Those people were the biggest douchebags I have ever seen in my life. The current students were not able to construct simple sentences and english , leave alone articulating their point. And yes, they expect spectacular acads even from 10 years experienced professional. The best way to advance your career would be to stay as far from this program as possible.
Hey did you attend the info session at Delhi? I came out with the same feeling. If I compare the energy and professionalism at ISB info sessions, IIMB doesn't even come close. It was very thanda. Total lack of energy from all the presenters. They were speaking like school kids in morning assembly with their teacher watching them closely.
These institutions are still stuck in the 80s and 90s. They made it very clear that your marks define who you are. I could not identify myself with this philisophy. They want the leading rats from the rate race. I was disappointed because it was the first time I attended such an info session from an IIM. I went in with a lot of hope. I know that even if I score 800 in GMAT, I won't get a call. At least they are honest about it.
If you have a spectacular resume then you can think about it. But I would urge you to attend an info session and judge the quality of students by yourself.
All I know is that IIMs are not for me. I am glad that ISB is there in India, otherwise I would have had to reluctantly go abroad. I would say that ISB is the great leveler. From their selection criteria to their curriculum, everything shows progressive thinking. I hope ISB goes the IIM way and has 13 campuses across India. With no government intereference I am sure their quality won't get diluted. Our country needs such institutions who aren't stuck in the 20th century. Whether I get into ISB or not, I feel proud of it.

Initially I thought I wud not attend the interview but I did.it was on the 18th Nov and yes I was selected. I guess they check how rigorous is ur pre MBA acads in order to judge ur peeformance in the program. Iam a first attempt all india ranker in my chartered accountancy and can surely comment that there are very few programs in India that can match the rigour of a CA. I think that worked for me apart from my strong leadership roles and ECS.

@KaushikG0311 , @myth_dispeller - Guys, take a chill pill. Breathe in, breathe out and shake hands
@sudhir3127 Hi, I am also a first attempt CA rank holder. I read you made it to isb so congrats for that. I was with Ey for a year in the tax practice before joining my own firm where I am working for roughly a year. Planning to apply for Co 2015, how would you rate my profile and I have exposure in tax consultancy only. Decent acads till school and I have done BBS from College of business studies.

If ISB will not select me then I will join Harvard which is a safe Bschool for a profile like me.
If not ISB, then Harvard. Awesome, dude

Any info on how the placements for ISB is going this year?
Yes, pretty much in regular touch with a number of current students from Hyderabad and Mohali. Situation is bad.

But... But... I maintain that we should focus on the long term learning aspect

After B.Sc Biotech I pursued M.Sc Bioinformatics (Distance Learning) GNIIT (Software Engg), Oracle Certifications, and French language for 2 yrs. I had MSC and NIIT classes on alternate days and French classes on weekends. I accommodated Oracle certification classes in between. I always submitted M.Sc & GNIIT assignments and projects on time. Every month I had some sort of exam. I scored 74% in MSc, 80% in GNIIT, and 90+ in all Oracle exams. French was evaluated but it was only pass/fail. But one of my teachers who taught me continuously for 6-7 months considered me one of the best (because I could crack jokes in French - mostly puns. And acc to her this showed my level of understanding of the language)
In the 3rd year I pursued a course in Clinical Research in which I scored 70%. I had classes till 3 pm and I used to rush to attend Oracle classes from 4-6pm. This went on for 5 months. I continued with French classes for this period. Then I focused on networking for 3 months and was the first person in my batch (clinical res) to get placed. I was placed 3 months before the final exam and could not attend rest of the classes, so I scored less. But still I was among top 10. Since last 3.5 yrs I am working in Clinical Data Management, where I have excelled due to my knowledge in life & comp sciences.
I was very disappointed that my nonstop struggle for 3 yrs would be equivalent to zero for IIMs because they were not my 10th, 12th or Grad scores. Even though I have low marks in these, I have a very strong reason, which I explained in my ISB essays. But there is no place to do that for IIMs. They would not even consider any "excuse". The truth is... There are enough candidates with spectacular acads and I am not one of them. But I have proven that I can handle academic pressure. I can do well in completely different fields because I have the caliber. If a school doesn't respect that then I don't care for it. I have always found a way and I will, no matter what happens.

Yep... I spoke to few current students and they say almost 40% are yet to be placed.
not a great news, but yeah MBA is always a long term affair

Yeah, I guess there are factors more important, than just placements, that go into deciding where one opts for an MBA from!

I need a lot more information than just that, to even remotely hint at a yes or a no.
