Yes, buddy. Perhaps you might want to consider retaking GMAT. Breaks my heart to say this, as it is torturous to fight that monster one more time.!
The applicant pool at ISB has a large fraction coming from IT. So, that makes IT industry a tad more competitive than the rest, in terms of securing a shortlist.
A GMAT 710-720 might just double your chances! Although, this does not, in any way, mean that you won't get shortlisted with a 650. It all boils down to the strength of the profile, ultimately.
My $0.02 :)

Good that you are planning ahead. Application portal will open again in May. You have enough time to take the GMAT. Once you get a satisfactory score you can focus on the essays. Also, pick your reccos now itself and work on your relationship with them, so that they are more enthusiastic when they have to write about you. The process is different from what we are used to. It will take some time to understand the strategies for GMAT/Essays/Reccos/Interviews. That's a long way to go. Take it step-by-step. Get GMAT out of the way so that you can peacefully work on the essays. ISB has started video essay, not sure whether they will contiue this year. If they do then it's yet another step. All the Best
@kravindran7 Oops. I didn't notice that you have already taken GMAT. You have the time, so pdo the best you can. My only advice: In the end you should not feel that if only I would have taken the GMAT again I might have been shortlisted. If you have a doubt in your mind now, it's better to take care of it. This doubt will be reflected in everything you do. That feeling will pull you down when you are required to be optimistic. So looking forward, I say go for it bro!! Avg improvement is 40 points. I scored 680 in 1st attempt then got 720. With 50 point you will touch 700. It will do a great job for your confidence. If for nothing else, do it for the sake of your confidence. Because even a small sliver of doubt can be detrimental. I am speaking with experience. I was more confident of my candidature when I saw that 720.
okie. So all the invites for Hyderabad location i/v are sent out then.

@kravindran7 My 2 cents:
There is no such thing as average rise. My score in my 2 attempts were 640 & 730. And the rise was purely due to verbal score. It is important to get out of the CAT mindset as GMAT is a more verbal centric exam. Out of the 3 different sections in Verbal, aim for 100% accuracy in either RC or CR. This is what worked for me.

Hi,
As you have enough time to apply in b-schools for 2014 intake, I would suggest you to write your GMAT again (in May/June) and aim to score 690+. You have decent work experience, acads and GPA, so you must target b-schools with GMAT range between 610-720. The possibilities of selection in b-schools will depend on your application essays and interviews.
Let me know in case of further queries.
Best,
Maya

That's impressive bro! Even my improvement was due to the verbal score. I was emphasising the point that the average increase is 40 points as per GMAC, and my score was an example of the same. And you are right about focusing on the verbal score. SC is the easiest to improve and not everyone can improve both CR & RC. But any 2 of these 3 sections can be improved in a short duration with practice.
@nigga said:I attended the info session in Pune. I won't say that it was a complete waste of time. The snacks were good and I was really hungry that day.Anyway, I was talking about the abysmal quality of IIM B 1 year program students. Let me recount some experiences from that day I still remember.(1) There was this guy who was telling potential candidates about consulting as he had 'consulting' experience. This guy had not heard of Bain and BCG ( I am shitting you not) and according to him consulting has a grim future. Not to mention that he had a bihari accent (not that I am racist) and sounded just like a vegetable vendor trying to learn English. Come on IIM B. Wtf is wrong with you? Can't you weed out this filth in the screening process? (2) I asked one smartass current student to comment about how the program compares to ISB. And this guy was like bashing ISB like he had an age old vendetta. According to him ISB is not worthy of spending your precious one year and that the reputation of IIMs far outweighs ISB. Now you want me to believe that dipshit? I am pretty sure that this guy applied to ISB and got rejected even without an interview. But these state of affairs have saddened me a lot. I have talked to a lot of guys in foreign B schools and they are genuine people and always give fantastic advice. Unlike these phoneys who try to misguide candidates just to satisfy their egos.
I hope people look before they leap. It is good to attend the info sessions and see for yourself. It is not right to jump into a program only because of the brand name. Good due diligence mate and thank you for sharing the info. At least fellow puys will try to find out for themselves and not fall for the mighty brand name. To each his own.

Just FYI, I improved my score from 530 to 690!
I have seen many ppl improving their GMAT score by more than 200 points.
P.S. This is not to prove you wrong. I do follow your comments and commend your valuable inputs.

wondering if your statements are not that of a racist kind, what else fits into the bracket of "racism" ... You think IIM B should "weed" out "filth" if some one carries a regional accent (Read Bihari)?
More than any one you need to "clear" what has weed out this prejudice in your head first.
