ISB Class of 2014 aspirants.

Hi Namita,

Thanks for the response.
I have a doubt here, since the applications are open for the 2014 intake, till then i will have around 30 months of work ex.
So if i apply now, will I be mentioning the workex at time of admit or workex at time of applying?

If you are applying for 2014 batch .. then ur Work ex till 31st march 2013 will be counted....

Did you even read the article?

Here's what I gather:
Last year, 569 students were offered 661 jobs, whereas this year 575 students were offered 631 jobs. And yes, out of those 575, 43 opted out of the placement process because they joined former employers. So in a sense, (575-43=532) were offered 631 jobs.

Now, to do a fair comparison you need to know how many opted out of the placement process last year.

But then, when there's media involved, you can count on them to manipulate figures just to create attention-grabbing headlines.

There's a book about "how to lie with statistics" - you should read it sometime.

cheers

No offence to anyone but i personally feel chasing placement reports of a school like ISB is a futile exercise and should not be analysed on y-o-y basis.ISB cohort has professionals who come from diverse backgrounds and have specific post-MBA goals. This changes in the diversity of a particular cohort can have quite an impact on the placement data.Other than that,ISB can only show the path,it's for an individual to walk through and i believe if one can make it to ISB,he/she can back oneself up to reach the desired destination.

Hi all,

can anyone share an example essay submitted for ISB.

If you have worked with a ISB student or alumnus, you can approach them for referral. Personal network would help too.

Hi,
I wanted to know how to get referal from ISB students/Alumini? Do we have to mention their name as one of the refree in the application or somewhere else?

Hello friends,

I took my GMAT last month in April and secured the following score -

Total - 710
Quant - 50
Verbal - 36
AWA - 5

CGPA - 3.7

I have a total of 5 yrs of work ex. 4 yrs as a technology consultant for hedge fund clients and 1 yr as a Software professional for an I-Bank.

I am pretty confused of my chances at getting an admit from a B-School such as ISB? Is my score too low? Shall i need to retake the exam?

Please advise.

Hi Namita,
Last month i gave GMAT and got 660.
Pls review my profile-
Exp-8 years Automobile(Manufacturing)
Extra curricular- Decent
Should i apply or give GMAT again for a better score

It depends on your profile... may be you can try to get 690-700 ... but provided your work ex , i dont think gmat might hamper ur chances much...

I am not able to upload any international experience in the Application. Is it only me or there is no section to upload this at all?

I am a Non-IIT, Non-NIT B.Tech. (Comp. Sc.) Grad:

10th 69% (UP State Board)
12th 76% (UP State Board)
B.Tech. 73% (UP Technical University)

I will be completing 7 years in IT Product Services and Engineering this Sept.
I have started my career with Oracle in 2005 and worked in multiple customer facing teams for 4 year 3 months.
After that i have joined HP R & D and will be completing 3 years in Jan 2013.
I don't have any On Site International Work Experience but have been working in teams spread across the globe.
My job roles as a R & D engineer never involved any International travel.
Leading teams of lateral hires for 3 years now. (No Manager kinda role)
For last 2 years i have been working with Field Sales and Pre-Sales people to help them in winning deals for HP for Oracle Products. I am working as an interface between HP R & D and HP Field and Pre-Sales for all Oracle Apps Implementations on HP Data Center Offerings.

My Oracle experience had lot of customer interactions but in my current job, i rarely interact with customers directly.

Never been part of any NGO in last 7 years. But worked in Employee Club at both HP and Oracle, and Organized many events.

I was also very active in extra curricular activities in my Grad School won many prizes in group dance , drama etc and part of the Student Club.

I am one of the co-founder of my Grad School Alumni Association's Bangalore Chapter. Lead the team of 10 people and Organized the First Alumni meet in Bangalore recently.

I am writing GMAT in Aug first week and expect to score 700+ (Scoring 750+ in MOCK Tests).

I have both hardware and software exposure for Enterprise Businesses and want to move to the Sales side of Enterprise Business in IT Industry.
What are my chances?

Hi,

The GMAT score for the ISB class averages around 710. Your score is lower in comparison. I think that you should retake it if you can and try to get it up close to 700.

Although your GMAT score is just one among the many components that make up the application, yet its an important one. And you still have time before submission, so studying for GMAT is not going to hamper the quality of the rest of your application.

Hope that makes sense to you.

Thanks for replying. Can you suggest me how to go about building the profile for the app?

Very first thing would be Jot down everything u think , u did was very good... and can help ur app.. choose top 3 things and highlight them in ur profile and send ur app for profile evaluation to ISB admissions comm..

ANd after that you may go on to work on your weaknesses....

Hi All,

With the GMAT Prep material forum being no more active, I am posting the query on this thread.
Also, i do understand that exchange of Copyright material is prohibited; however at the same time since the exchange of old books by some of the past GMAT takers is acceptable, I wanted to check if any one would like to share Aristotle Books or Manhattan Books. I would be glad to pay the nominal amount for them as otherwise I will be paying for the same if bought from some other source.

I have created the following thread to track all international Bschool deadlines and essays. While it may not directly apply to ISB it will help those of you apply to schools abroad.
