You can highlight it in work decription..( that u have to provide in ur app) and may be some work related achievement ....Even ur client/boss can talk about ur work in their reccos... So there are a lot of ways to highlight your work...
Guys,
I learnt a lot from pagalguy and it is time for me to contribute to this thread - in whatever way I can.
I am R2 admit for Class 2013 HYD campus.
My profile: 7+ years of IT exp (2 year in project management) 740 GMAT. EC - OK Ok
I would try to visit this thread regularly however in case any urgent help required please PM me.
Few things I want to share: I got 3 rejects without interview and got into ISB with first attempt (My first preference). So My take away is do not feel dejected because of rejects - it makes you ready for accept.
Congratulations. I have similar experience of 7 Years in IT Industry, Telecom Domain to be specific. I am starting my GMAT prep now. Could you please guide me about the same and entering into ISB. My X: 83% ; XII : 70% and Engg in IT (CGPA) : 1.68/4
My engg score is too low i guess. But can my experience fill in for it ? What should be my aim to get into ISB. Please help
Hi Guys,
I am trying to get into ISB 2014 through batch R1
My profile is as follows:
XII - 75% West Bengal State Board - 1998
BE - 73% Jadavpur University - 2003
Work Ex 9 years - since 2003 - 3 years in manufacturing, 2 years in marketing, 4 years in market research
EC- University student body chair, University Cultural Fest Convener, Played cricket in junior club level and for office team
awards: NTSE, and various professional awards for performance.
Finally, GMAT - 700/Q50/V35 - 5.0
Critical Info: I already have an MBA (PGDBM) from IIMC, part time three year course passed in 2008 with a silver medal for coming second.
This helped me a lot in switching career from manufacturing to marketing. That was a priority for me at that point of time.
Now please help me in certain confusions:
1. Where do I stand in terms of ISB entrance. is a 700 GMAT with 9 years ex and with my profile good enough?
2. Indian companies hardly recognize a part time MBA. Hence I need to do this MBA. is that a good enough reason for the second MBA? if not, what can be a better response for doing a second MBA?
3. the first essay In the ISB form reads like " Please make a strong case to differentiate yourself from an exceptional set of applicants applying for PGP 2013-14. You could cite personal/ professional achievements to present your case." - Confusion is - is it necessarily an achievement essay or do we need to write other things as well... like "high experience - therefore will add greater value" - etc...
will appreciate help from you guys...

Thanks Navin,
I am planning to describe one aspect of my profile through each of the reccos..will keep that in mind while writing apps...just one more query..i want to understand how the ADCOM filters the apps according to domains? If it is by looking at apps then I am fine but if they use companies as the sieving tool then will my app matter?
Punisher is back for 2014...
Count me in as one of the aspirants...!!!

They dont use filter by using company names.Because in large firms people can come from any role.. e.g. A guy working in Maruti Suzuki can be in manufacturing, supply chain , marketing , RnD , finance even in IT Department... So basically it depends upon ur job profile....:):)
Your GMAT along with your profile looks great. Since, you have an MBA already, it is up to you to leverage that as a positive in your application. Make sure you think through how to present this, i.e. why do you need a second MBA? Part-time MBA is not recognized by companies argument is decent, but, if you can, talk to people who went for a second MBA.
For the essay, you seem to be thinking in the right direction. It's achievements + points of differentiation both. If your achievement gives you something such that you will be able to contribute uniquely to the class, that would be great. Peer-to-peer sessions at ISB are really quite frequent. If you think you can organize some sessions leveraging your unique profile/industry/function knowledge, that would be a good pointer.

thanks ajay...
i shall build a positive story on my previous degree.
by the way, any clue what is expected out of the 3rd essay? 'any other info' is quite open ended...
I would suggest you to set an appointment with admissions and get counselling on your profile. Also, you can visit the campus sometimes or interact with admissions to know more about the school. Email admissions and they can connect you to a current student who has a prior MBA degree.
