@Kode_A : IMO too much is being read by the mediain NaMo's every line he speaks, this days.Lets face it, Gujrat has always been a cash rich state(relatively), thanks to the entrepreneurial mind-set of its people, and NaMo sells it better to the world than his predecessors, the patels and the waghelas.
P.S. : I am a NaMo fan too but national politics is all-together a different ball-game and he needs to be patient before foraying on the national scene.
In times like these, it is not wise to be a pro-NDA or pro-UPA voter. Both out do each other in proving how hopeless they are.
But if I have to chose between Modi and Rahul Gandhi as PM of the country, I ll definitely go for Modi.
Congress never allowed Sheila Dixit to come out of Delhi to mainstream. She is good. I just hope same doesnt happen with Modi too. He deserves to grow.
Hi okay this is my second post on this thread I think.. I hate to say it but I've been a "silent observer" of sorts - I kinda have been popping in and out..
I gave my interview in Delhi on the first day that they were scheduled for (don't remember the date) the interview lasted 20 - 25 minutes and when I walked out of the room I was pretty happy with my answers. Of course, a common thread I've noticed with everyone else here (including me) is a sort of a "post-fight-self-dialogue" where you walk out of a fight and a day later you're like d*** I could have said this and done this and that yada yada.. but it's good to see that I'm not alone in this regard
The reason I'm posting though, is because I thought of something post my interview that IMO could have been pretty awesome if I had thought of it before: be proactive (in fact that was our word for the one word essay that day LOL) research ISB very very well and demonstrate your expertise by connecting ISB with your essay at the time of your interview. Case in point - I did an online course from Coursera called Gamification (listed it in my application) - shortly after my interview I came across a Gamification website through HN that listed ISB as its clients. D***!
Anyway, all i'm saying is this - since you can't really really predict what they're going to ask you - perhaps an important homework would be to do some research on your own about ISB so that you can tie it with your application and possibly even have a very meaningful and contextual conversation.
Of course in full disclosure, for those who are yet to give their interviews, I'll let you know that 7 days before the interview (when I got to know of it) I was running around like a chicken without a head - so if that's you right now then ignore what I said and just roll with it
@delatpg I too share the same belief. In times like these, it is not wise to be a pro-NDA or pro-UPA voter. Both out do each other in proving how hopeless they are.But if I have to chose between Modi and Rahul Gandhi as PM of the country, I ll definitely go for Modi.Congress never allowed Sheila Dixit to come out of Delhi to mainstream. see that's what is happening.....everyone around(the urban class specially whose voting percentage is minimal) is so frustrated with UPA govt. currently that they want a quick alternative and Modi seems to give them that choice.....media too is getting impatient and acting as a catalyst in the process...i am missing parliamentarians like Mr. Vajpayee or Mr. Narsimha Rao in this testing times whose stature was above party politics and who provided vision to the country....
@delatpg No dude I am not picking Modi because UPA was wrong all this while.
NDA too might have performed the same way, if not worse.
I chose Modi over Rahul Gandhi who is PM candidate for UPA.
If PM post is between Man Mohan Singh and any other current Politician, I would chose Man Mohan Singh as he is a intellectual who knows what he is doing. Scams, frauds etc are unfortunately part and parcel of the system. MMS is still a good person to lead the country.
I dont see NDA immune to that in any sense.
If NDA is ruin themselves with Hindutva agenda, the UPA goes on with Pseudo - Secularism.
I call it pseudo coz I feel all their statements is just to make sure they win votes on the basis on religion.
And I feel they dont believe in this philosophy, because I saw Maharastra Navnirman Sena getting away with lot of stuff under the Congress Raj.
I am a Maharastrian. was shocked to see how Congress is so lenient with MNS, untill it struck me that all MNS is doing is reducing vote bank of Shiv Sena - BJP. Hence Congress entertained that.
End of the day its all about votes. No party supports any community or religion coz they want to, its just creating a USP to win votes.
And its high time we come out of this Gandhi Family burden. Infrastructure of half the country is names after - Indira, Rajiv and Nehru Gandhi.
@anandogs About feeling I would have had answered that question better and regretting of not doing it on the interview.I have reached level 2 on that issue.Assuming I had answered the question in a better way than I did in the interview, I now feel they would ve had harassed me on that too
@Kode_A : well it may have sounded like i was judging your choice but i was commenting more on the general feeling people around have today .......vote bank politics has a crucial role and can't be done away with but in greater scheme of things the govt. in power has to rise above it.....once in govt., the people on those coveted chair has to respect the post they are holding.......Mr. MMS is a good man but i have no interest in his good man-ship if being the PM of India he still has to toe the line......
@Kode_A - Hey buddy, I appreciate everything you said, and I am going to talk to AdCom soon. (Thanks for the idea). ISB was a stress interview and I'd give myself 30-70 for selection-non selection. GMP interview was stressful too. Coming to the two year courses, I know they are very good and not less than any IIM courses in any sense.
Important thing - Do not call yourself a goon or something. I know a friend with 750+ in GMAT went to XL GMP and is doing real good now. Good people go to XL GMP.
My profile just so you know:
X - 84%, XII - 91%, Grad (NIT Trichy) - 6.58 CGPA. Work Ex : A leading vendor IT company - 2+ yrs, A leading IB - 4.5 yrs. ECs : Drummer & Guitarist in a rockband. Play for raising money. (Unfortunately, I did not give the founding rock band example, when they asked me "an example where I displayed leadership abilities", which is killing me from the iv day). Of course, I read books, I play cricket (silver medal holder at Univ level)...

Hey I've picked up the bass recently. We can form a band at ISB (oh yeah there's the small thing of getting in, but let's look past that for the time-being)! Though you're a drummer and guitarist in the SAME band? how does that work lol?

Oh nice my two different posts came up one after the other.. now the whole world will know that I wasn't smart enough to copy my text when something went wrong on the page the first time!
Had my interview at 10:00 am on the 9th. Skype glitche, made impossible to turn video on, so it ended up being a telephonic interview. Was pretty disappointed about that, as I feel eye contact and body language make a huge difference
I was asked regular questions, it was very conversational.
1)How was your skydiving experience. Did you do it alone or in tandem?
2)You received 2 individual excellence awards - tell us about those projects and responsibilities
3)What were the challenges? How did you overcome them?
4)What would you change about what you did?
5)What would you retain about the way you handled the situation?
6)Do you plan on coming back to India for good? Said yes, gave reasons?
7)Seems like you are very straightforward person? Works in the US, because people can take it? In india, it is all about sugar coating? How will you deal with that?
8)One achievement you are very proud of?
9) Questioned me on a quote in my essay - "You can connect the dots only looking backwards, not forward". Very interesting. Explain what you mean.
10) As an architect if there was one thing you'd change about/add to the city of Bombay, what would it be?
11)The order is messed up on this one, but there were long term goal, how MBA fits and why ISB/India...
12)Any questions for us
I thought I answered some decently, and wished I could slip in more content and cohesiveness on others.
