Hi frontrunner, yes you got it right,I am in RCLMCS :),just started with the app filling the achievements and all,not yet started with essays though.I have created one google doc file and named it as JEEVAN SAAR and I keep on updating it with every tiny thing i have done in my life...so will use that to write the essays..what about you?
I like your Jeevan Saar concept. π Tough part would be excluding points from your big list. Word limit is a real pinch. Yet to start with my app. Waiting for the feedback from ISB (its like taking forever)
I need some help in moving towards MBA and definitely @ ISB (hyderabadiii π )
Presently I am working in IT company with around 1.8yrs experience. I want to make it into ISB 2014 batch (by that time i will be touching down 3yrs experience).
Recently I got an offer from One of the top product company. However I am in dilemma to opt for it or not.
What I feel is, If I stay in present IT company, I might get a chance to go abroad and have good time in communicating with international clients (International work experience), though I have to compromise on my salary. If I choose product company, altogether I will be in different role and will have functional exposure.
Any idea will these factors effect my chance at ISB. If so, what will be the best path?
Hey, Your work experience will only count till the time you apply and not till you join. Diversity will always remain an advantage, shifting to this new org. may add to your profile, especially because you hail from an otherwise run-of-the-mill industry background. The competition gets tougher for those from backgrounds like IT. However, having said that, you may want to consider the natural progression of your career, if you want to stay on in IT or move on! All the best!

Thanks for the suggestion. It's making me sleepless from past 2 days. Jump or not to jump.
Because my cousin suggests to stay in IT and look for onsite. As you know, that gives lot of bucks. On the other side (product company), you will stay in your hometown with better package, though I may miss client communication.

Work experience is to be calculated as per March 2013 if you are applying this year, not the time of application.
Can somebody please let me know how much experience should I mention while I am creating my ISB profile, should it be current experience or is there a cut - off date. As per dreamISB2014's post, it should be upto March'2013, right?????

Typically ISB mentions this is the form. (I think it might be in the FAQs).
Anyway, I double checked my application from last year and it is indeed till March.

what all schools are you applying to? have u checked their deadlines...? your academics are very decent, and so is your tenure of experience... managerial, leadership skills will only add to it!
In my opinion, think about what you want to do in longer term, 5-10 years from now. Now, if your career goal is in IT, then of course, you can remain in same company. If you are adventure seeker and want to try new things, you can opt for second company, knowing that you can come back to IT, if this doesn't work out.
However, if your long term goal does not involve either IT or the second company/industry, and you want to make a drastic career move, then earlier you go for MBA, better it is.
You can afford one more year in workforce and apply for 2015, if you are not keen on having this drastic career move.

I am a 2013-14 aspirant, I am a engineer from a top 10 engg college in India. GMAT:700 (V:33, Q:50) AWA:5.5 Decent Acads A lot of extra curriculars. Work exp.: Sales and marketting, business developement, now in consulting: 8yrs. (product related to construction, mining and power inductry)
I wanted to understand the fundamental difference between the R1 and R2 of ISB application. I have been advised that both are the same and there is no distinction between the two, but then why at all have 2 different rounds of selection. Can someone throw some light on this issue?
I ask this question because due to higher work-ex I am more inclined for IIMA-PGPX, in-case I not get through IIMA:banghead: I will apply for ISB in R2:cheers:.

If you want to stay in IT, international exposure is important, so stay back. Otherwise move out now, you will find it hard to move on in later years.
Fundamentally every employer will like to have a employee who know about his customers, most of the IT customers are abroad, while traditional sectors have their base and consumption in India.
You have a long way to go but you have to make a choice today !!!
Well Well... Count me in guys... Hope its not late for me to aim for the 2014 ISB Ad.
The forum and this thread is electric. Here is what i have in my hand so far..

What say guys? Is it never late or practically it is ??:
Can someone help evaluate my profile? I am a new applicant. I have just 1 year experience but by the time I apply, I will have close to 1.5 years of work-ex. What I am planning to do is ask for a deferred admission.
It will be nice if adcom team or seniors can guide me on whether my profile is good enough to apply this year or should I give it a shot for another year(anyway I will ask for a deferred admission).
Thanks in advance
Hello Raven. It is very difficult for any of us to evaluate your profile because one has no knowledge of your background or frankly speaking, no one among us has no expertise to do so. Deferred admission is not something that you can ask for. I personally know someone who has got an ISB admit with less than 2 years. That person has been given a deferred admit because the profile is brilliant but lacks 2 years of WE.
So if you feel that you profile is brilliant, please go ahead and apply. If selected, you will be automatically given a deferred admit.
Also for profile evaluation, please contact with ISB adcom and they will be happy to help you.
Hi Is it too late to request for a feedback of my application last year?(Applied in R2).. I had not intended to re-apply, but considering it coz PlanB didnt quite work out either.. Can someone outline the process for obtaining feedback?
I did hear that they would be accepting feedback requests till May 15 and that the feedback would come last by June 15. However there is no harm in giving it a shot with all sincerity.
Some of us sought feedback in March/April/May and are still waiting to hear from them on the same.
Will anyone of you reply daringly to my so called profile....!

I doubt if daring anyone will get you a response, just for the sake of it. Please get in touch with ISB adcom to discuss on this and they will help you out. Also they will get you in touch with a current student/alum who might advise on your situation.
Hi, It would be great if some one could share his/her thoughts on my profile,

Will be holding 4 years 9 months of Experience as on March 2013 (Work Ex is entirely in the FMCG sector and currently in Indias No.1 FMCG co.) Planning to attempt GMAT in the last week of september. I will be trying my best to get the best score, however, looking at my experience would like to know what would be an ideal score via which i can be confident to get an interview call. Thank you for your time and consideration, Regards, TAB
I would suggest you to take your GMAT much sooner than September (unless ofcourse you are too busy with work or have something else on mind). Getting over with your GMAT and having a score at hand will help you decide on the BSchools you want to apply to. Also Sept onwards, most of the BSchools will start their admission cycles. You do not want to spent a lot of time on your GMAT when you can be in a very good position spending that time on your admission apps.
I am a 2014 aspirant, Additionally, I just wanted to ask how much experience should I mention while I am making my ISB profile, should it be current experience or is there a cut - off date.
