Hi
I am a 2014 aspirant and want to know the best time to take the GMAT so that i'll have the time for submitting applications and other admission formalities.
hi,
Pls ans the below questions:
- For next year admit which gmat should i target and wat is the score reqd at my profile
Now that the GMAT pattern has already changed, there is only one GMAT, with IR π Regarding the score, the more you get the better it will be. Just GMAT score is not a parameter, a lot goes along with your GMAT score like your WE, acads, achievements, EC, etc.
- Can any1 exp me the meaning of R1 and R2 as i have seen it in threads many times
Each BSchool divides its application process in multiple slots. Each slot is called Round1 (R1), Round2 (R2), Round3(R3). Incase of ISB, there are just 2 slots - R1, R2. R1 runs from June to September 15 while R2 runs from Sept 15 to Nov 15.
- My last yr cat score was 93 so the concepts of cat will be any help in gmat?
For quant, in GMAT, unlike CAT the concepts are not checked so thorough. So yes, if you are above average with your CAT quant, you will sail through the GMAT quant.
While GMAT Verbal seems to pose a lil problem to many GMAT applicants. As per them its on the higher side compared to the difficulty level of quant. But again, its individuals perspective.
Best would be to give a mock GMAT test (many are available for free on different popular GMAT study sites) and gauge your strength and grasp on your concepts.
- Are there any other colleges that i can target along with ISB (i cannot afford mba from abroad as d fess is too high)
Many, including me are concerned about the cost of MBA. So best would be to spend some time in finding the details of the cost of doing an mba overseas. However NUS, NTU, etc (Bschools in South East Asia) cost far less compared to Bschools in the west.
Hi Guys,
I need some help in moving towards MBA and definitely @ ISB (hyderabadiii π )
Presently I am working in IT company with around 1.8yrs experience. I want to make it into ISB 2014 batch (by that time i will be touching down 3yrs experience).
Recently I got an offer from One of the top product company. However I am in dilemma to opt for it or not.
What I feel is, If I stay in present IT company, I might get a chance to go abroad and have good time in communicating with international clients (International work experience), though I have to compromise on my salary.
If I choose product company, altogether I will be in different role and will have functional exposure.
Any idea will these factors effect my chance at ISB. If so, what will be the best path?
My 2 cents.....
Many get an opportunity to go onsite as part of their job role. But just because they went overseas does not mean that their profile becomes great. If one ends up doing nothing then the onsite exp is of no use. However going onsite helps you save a lot of money which will be useful for your MBA.
If you feel that joining the product company will give you a good functional role then it will be good to take it up. Never make decisions of your life/career solely based on your mba. MBA is one part of all major decisions you make.
Be assured that choosing either of the options will not work against you if you make the best you of it. Any Bschool will solely not concentrate on what you did, but will also look into how you have performed and have grown in your role.
ATB with your decision...

The sooner the better cos you don't want to mix both your app effort & GMAT effort and risk not concentrating on both π There is no best time (date/month wise) to give GMAT. You should GMAT when your are done with your prep and are scoring well in your mocks. Also give atleast a month before the actual deadline. Just in case you want to give a second shot (you can re-apply with atleast a month's gap) you can do so before the deadline closes.
HI Folks,
I have a query regarding the application of ISB-2014.Can I add one separate section in employment details section to fill my details of my workexperience after I got promoted in the same organisation?

Got a rank of 144 and I decided to join Ahmedabad University for an MBA course.
Yes. I'm already an MBA. But I have always wanted to study in a top B-School. And that is reason that i want to do an ex MBA from a top institute. I'm planning give GMAT after 2-3 years (after gaining some Work Ex).
My real dilemma: I certainly know that the first question that I would be asked in the interview would be Why a double MBA? How should I defend myself in such a case? As you can see, my academics are not that good. What are the things that I can do to make my profile strong? Please help me puys.

Rahul,
My sincere advise to you is first finish your 2 - 3 years of work experience. Once you do that few things will happen:
a. You may realize you do not need another MBA
b. You realize you do need another MBA. If you realize this then you yourself will have more clarity on the reasons why you need it.
It would be silly for anyone to tell you at this stage reasons for why you should do another MBA.
I tell this to students all the time - "If you want to be a top BSchool student then its about time you started thinking and acting like one!" π
All the best!
Rosh
