ISB Class of 2014 aspirants.

Hi
I have 6 yrs of experience as on 31st may'12 in engineering dept of a manufacturing orgn.
GMAT: 710 (Q-49, V-38 AWA-5)
I have international work ex but decent extra curriculars...any suggestions??

Any suggestions on what? If you mean your profile then - no. Judging a persons candidature from 3 lines of text is ludicrous.

Scroll back a few posts and find the link to the ISB counselling sessions. Or you can mail ISB directly on [email protected] to set up a counselling session.

Hope that helps.

Best,

Rosh
Hi,
What new info do reapplicants have to furnish?
Can recommendations be reused?

You are required to write a re-applicant essay.

By reusing your recommendations do you means using the same recommenders to copy and past in their recommendations they wrote out for you last year? If so, then sure you can - but the bigger question is would you really want to do that?

Going purely by your question it seems to me you have read through your last years recommendations. Even if they were stellar recommendations - as a re-applicant a strong recommendation would have a recommend er commenting on more recent activities that you have done. This would mean that your recommenders would need to tweak their old recommendations to make them relevant.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Rosh
My 2 cents.....

Many get an opportunity to go onsite as part of their job role. But just because they went overseas does not mean that their profile becomes great. If one ends up doing nothing then the onsite exp is of no use. However going onsite helps you save a lot of money which will be useful for your MBA.

If you feel that joining the product company will give you a good functional role then it will be good to take it up. Never make decisions of your life/career solely based on your mba. MBA is one part of all major decisions you make.

Be assured that choosing either of the options will not work against you if you make the best you of it. Any Bschool will solely not concentrate on what you did, but will also look into how you have performed and have grown in your role.

ATB with your decision...

I completely agree with your words.
Since one of my career goals is to complete MBA, from where I can have Technical as well as Functional knowledge to lead.

As said, I don't want to change my entire career from so called Software side to some thing else. Rather I am looking for enhancement to what I am holding now and to move further up within this field with an MBA

Hi Puys,

I wrote GMAT some 10 days back. Managed to get 690 (Q48, V36), AWA 6/6. I still feel that i can do better than this. So am stuck here.

My profile :
10th : 90%
12th : 80%
GPA : 3.94/4
Work ex : 2 years and 7 months with the first Indian IT company to cross 10 billion dollars in revenue :)

For my extra curriculars, I have been an active part of a national level event at my college for specially/differently abled people even after completing my coll in 2009. While in coll I was one of the organizers for the event.
I have been involved in CSR activities held at my work place.
Apart from that my singing, drawing and writing has won me a few accolades :)

I am stuck, whether to go for a second attempt to improve on my GMAT score or not. I wish to apply to ISB for next year intake. It would be of great help if some one can lend a hand to pull me out of this well of confusion. :)

Thanks,
Amrit.

I will be joining IMT G this year. I had applied to ISB last year and got rejected after inteview. My profile in short
720 GMAT
2 y 10 months work ex in telecom operations management
Can I apply to ISB while doing my course at IMT? They ask for last pay slip in case of salaried.. is that to prevent people like me from applying?

Why do you want to study MBA two times? :wow:

Hi All,

I'm new to this forum and an aspirant of ISB class of 2014. Could you please send me the link of google doc that maintains the details of applicants (if there is such a thing)?

Thanks!

Did any one get feedback from ISB? I have asked for it and still waiting to hear on same.

I dont want to study again.. i just want to try for ISB again next year.. for obvious reasons!! because ISB gives more options in terms of career than IMT..

I'm sure the admissions team will not reject an application just because there was no salary slip however reading some of your earlier posts, I would advice you to think really hard about what will you answer when you're asked about "Why the second MBA?".

ISB typically looks for people who are very clear about their careers and doing a second MBA does indicate some confusion. And please think of a better response that the prestige factor, I'm sure the interview panel will not be impressed by that response.

I need help with the video upload introduced in ISB form this year..what should the video be aimed at?

I had mine a while back. it is definitely help ful. he gave pointers on my gmat score/ grad score and interview.
and asked me to improve my interview skills etc etc..

Also the counselor said that ISB will be looking for two things when it comes to the video:
1) Communication abilities
2) Structure of thoughts.. Atleast that should get me going on the video. was wondering what to do with the video upload.

Hi Puys,

I am an aspirant for ISB Co 2014.

Could you pls. guide me on whether any of the work related activities/accomplishments which are beyond my regular work responsibilities can be mentioned in Extra-curricular activities.

e.g.,Building and showcasing a prototype software to prospective clients and users at an international conference.

Training large group of client/users including senior management cutting across different verticals, sales, planning and operations, spread across India and getting appreciated for it. etc.

These can be counted as professional achievements but not ECA.

ECA is typically something that you do outside your assigned duties at work or school/college. It almost always is driven by personal motivation like sports/hobby/social work etc.

Hey folks, I'm a newbie on this website. Like many of you, I too will be applying to ISB this year and would like to connect with the members of this forum.

Brief Infro:

Education:
10th: 86% (2003) - CBSE
12th: 77% (2005) - CBSE
Undergrad (2009): From a top 10 university in US; majored in Economics

Work-ex:
Worked in the investment management side of an investment bank in US.
Currently working as an equity research analyst in Mumbai.
(Both jobs in front office)

GMAT: 700 (Shall be retaking it in Sept.)

I've met a couple of ISB's Ad-Com reps and they've clarified pretty much every query that I had, so feel free to shoot any questions.

Anyway, just wanted to drop by and say hello to the forum members. Good luck to all!

hai basu , nice post very helpful for aspirants like me.
