thanks..! will kickstart the prep now..But can we prepare for both CAT n GMAT in 1 shot... imean the preparation for both is same..?? i have idea of CAT but am an infant afa gmat is concerned....
Both the exams are quite different. GMAT verbal is tougher and quant is easier than CAT. The questions are very different. It's better to concentrate on one of the exams first and get it over with. GMAT has a new section called integrated reasoning which is similar to DI in CAT, but it's standard is much higher. You also need to write an essay as part of GMAT. It's a lengthy exam and you need to build stamina for it. Go through BeatTheGmat and GmatClub forums. They have a lot of info, self-study plans and debriefs. Spend a few days going through the posts and you will get a fair idea about GMAT. All the Best.
I ask for forgiveness in earnest before I even put down my thoughts, so please bear with me. I kind of feel poignant to see you all so nervous and apprehensive about the ISB results today. It isn't the end of life I believe and there will always be lot many opportunities to all of us. Why make a slave of ourselves in the wait and the aftermaths of this result? I agree that it is not easy after all as I remember my days when I awaited for IIT-JEE results some 8-9 years back and it was nothing less than a frenzy. But the journey onwards has taught me one thing if not others - that we need to put in our best efforts and not to worry about the rest. This has bring lot of calm in the life and I am sure this hasn't been a deterrent in career path but an enabler instead.

Also you can take GMAT any time of the year, so plan ahead and prepare well. If you want to appear for CAT as well, then finish GMAT by Apr/May. If you don't get a satisfactory score you can appear again for GMAT after 30 days. You will still be left with 5-6 months for CAT prep.
@ubiquitous1 Dude I share a similar story, I am a re-applicant on R2 and had applied to last year's R2, and then got a rejection mail on 15th Feb evening. Perhaps reason were on the same ground low gmat score and not so great essays especially the career one.
I made susbtantial improvement to my profile in last one year - got selected in leadership program, presented a technical paper at an international conference, won a PAN INDIA B-Plan conquest by BITS PILANI, launched a product and got a provisional patent for it, lead my team for Business process improvement of my company and boosted my GMAT score.
Surely result will weigh how valuable the effort was, but indifferent to the result the rejection kind of awakened me :)
guys, finally the day has arrived..the most awaited day of this season of ISB admissions..ALL THE VERY BEST for the results i wish all the shortlisted puys get the coveted email today π

thx...n whats the cost involved with every take..?
To me it doesn't matter anymore because I have already taken up admission with IIM Lucknow. They kind of didn't leave me with much choice. Anyway, to those who get selected, congratulations and I hope you do well in ISB if you decide to join. To those who get a reject, please don't lose heart. It is not the end of the world. ISB rejects candidates for a hundred different reasons. It doesn't really mean you are less competitive. It will be a bitter pill to swallow but I know everyone will pull through and maybe get through an even better school (You never know :D)
This forum has helped me quite a lot. Mostly in finding solace in people who have gone through the same experiences as me. This might be my last post. I join IIM Lucknow this April.
