ISB Class of 2014 aspirants.

Hi,
Last year Adcom asked for 2 accomplishments - this year they haven't mentioned any. Yes I did write about 2 accomplishments in 300 words. Please note - it is personal OR professional. So it need not be 2, adcom would be happy with 1 - its a call you have to take - how many accomplishment you wish to highlight.

Secondly, even if it is personal - it should have a direct relevance/tied down to your professional life.

Thirdly, be it differentiate yourself / accomplishment - essay 1 ties down to a personality essay - ISB wants to know you better as a person. Please read my extra long post on Application guidelines , essay analysis on page 130. I have shared my exp. from last year.

Warm Regards,
Basu.

Hi!
I have a question. While writing the essay "differentiate yourself, using professional/personal achievements" I feel 300 words is a little less if I want to write both one professional and one personal achievement.

Is it ok, if I describe one achievement only and describe it well?

thanks in advance :)

Thanks guys, I wrote 2 essays, for the same topic, one with 2 achievements one personal and one profesional. and second with only one..
I felt the one with only one achievement made for a better story and reading. Hence the dilemma.
I was thinking I could fix the other achievment somewhere in my extra essay .
Isnt it true that the whole application should be viewed as one wholesome picture of us, rather than broken down pieces of our life? Pretty complicated huh?

Guys whats the progress on your application? I haven't even started writing even one essay! 😞

Hi,
application will be viewed as a one single package - but there will be attention paid to each component.

But it's high time we start it.

Hi,

I'm a re-applicant from last year. In the feedback session, I was told to:
- Improve my GMAT score if possible since I come from an engineering background (710 current score)
- Differentiate myself a little more.

The way I see it I have 2 options:
1. Go ahead with the 710 and apply in the first round.
-I have few career changes to my advantage here...few, not many!

2. Take the GMAT again and I HAVE to get a better score in the new format!
- And apply in the 2nd round

Please help me decide.
It feels like the red pill & blue pill from the Matrix!

Though IMO 710 is a pretty good score to apply with but when the adcom itself suggest otherwise, you better take its words. You still have enough time to re-take your GMAT and apply in R1.

P.S. : i wonder what's a safe GMAT score for an engineering grad??

Hey can U pls tell me what questions are put up in interview???

Lakshmi,

If you are looking to get a head start on the interview prep then I applaud you. Most prospective students, strangely, falter at this stage and tend to forget the importance of an interview. An early bird flies ahead with confidence - I am of course paraphrasing here.

I have written a few detailed posts on interview preparation and also put down a few resources that you can use to begin your prep in my blog (the link is in my signature). Hope this can give youa head start in your preparation.

Feel free to send me a PM to clear any doubts you may have.

Cheers,

Roshan

There are several of you still waiting for feedback on your rejected applications. I have some time freed up and I am willing to review rejected applications and give you my feedback - should you need it. I have already given a few of you feedback.

Please feel free to get in touch with me via PM.

Cheers,

Roshan

Hi I have a query. In the preferred interview location section of the application details on the portal, there are four options whilst selecting Hyderabad. Hyderabad(HYD), Hyderabad(MUM), Hyderabad(BGL) and Hyderabad(CHN). Anyone having any idea, why there are these four options when it is clearly stated that the interviews will only be held in Hyderabad, Delhi and Kolkata.

Hyderabad(CHN) - means you are from Chennai and have to go to Hyd for interview. Similarly, Hyd (BGL) is Bangalore and Hyd(Mum) is Mumbai.

Thanks, I asked because I wanted to know why only four locations were considered. As an example, what about people from Pune or somewhere else. Just curious. Anyhow, thanks, I guess will add Hyderabad(MUM) as it is nearer to my place Pune.

please help, when R2 will start, and when should i schedule my GMAT to be eligible for R2, I just started my preparation. having 8 years of exp in manufacturing industry.
