ISB's intake batch's average GMAT score is around 710, so it would be great if you can score above that, it solidifies your chances. A score of 730+ would be an advantage.
But your professional achievements and your career goals will be also be important factors when it comes to strengthening your profile for ISB admission. Being an architect, what is that you wish to gain via an MBA degree? Do you wish to be an entrepreneur who wishes to start an architecture pertinent business or do you wish to be in management roles where you would be handling a design team? Also in your role as an architect how do you differentiate yourself from a competitive pool of applicants?
Hi guys. i have done my bachelors in architecture. Five years of work ex with design studios and construction industry. good academics, not so good though. worked with a number of international consultant and labs on evolving energy efficient building operations. what chances do i stand for isb? what would be the bare minimum gmat score to ensure a call?
Hi Vishal,
The b-school adcoms look for candidates who can contribute to the classroom, have ability to work with others and unique leadership style. Although acads, GPA, extra-curricular and GMAT plays important role in selection, but if you could showcase the above mentioned abilities/skills in your application essays and interviews then you would stand a chance in b-school(s). I would suggest you to target 700+ GMAT score.
Feel free to post any other concerns you might have.
How much time does it take to fill online form? Is 1 month sufficient? (I guess, no video required this time). I am planning to meet the Nov 30th deadline for ISB, and start applying right after my CAT 2013 (1st half of Oct). Is it possible, if I give my 100% effort? Also when is the latest I can appear for GMAT? (how much time does it take for the unofficial score card to reach the institute?)
Suppose, say, my 1st score isn't too good and my 2nd attempt is say, awesome, like 760; does it reflect badly on me? Compared to a say a 700+ in 1st attempt itself?

Hi Frostie, I am sure you must have filled tons of forms by this age :), so you would have some idea about filling a 14-15 pages form. 2-3 days at max?
What will take time is writing your essays, because you need to think through your story ideas and write them down, such that they are both relevant and interesting enough to get you the interview invite. Essays require multiple iterations to get in good shape.
Another time taker can be the recommendations, because you are dependent on other people to get this done, and you may have to chase your recommenders to submit on time.

Although it takes around 15 days for your official score report to reach the B-school, my take is, why wait until the end? Plan it out better and take the GMAT by July- August.

Almost all b-schools consider your highest single score (no mix and match between 2 different sets of scores).
I am a Graduate in Mathematics and doing my own Business of Import of Metals. I am 23 years old. Have been working since Jan 2011. A work exp of more than 2 years and less than 3 years. Is there any chance of getting thru ISB.
I am a 2013 reject. I have 4 years work experience in financial services industry. I have converted IIM A this year. My question is should I join IIM this year or wait for next year for ISB. I know at IIM most are of 0-2 years exp and I am the odd man out. I really liked ISB and its culture during info sessions and interview.

There are more factors involved - what is your undergrad GPA? Your GMAT score? What is the quality of your work experience? Have you grown your business? What new insights can you add to the ISB class with your work experience? What are your career goals? Do they require you to do an MBA from ISB? What is your personality like? Are you involved in extra curricular activities/ interests?
Tonnes of questions there. You can answer these to receive a more detailed reply.
I have completed my Engineering in Electronics and Communications and have about 7.5 yrs of experience in product development.
Have worked abroad for leading product development companies.I wish to pursue my further studies at ISB.
Hobbies : I teach a cultural dance form , Playing TT and swimming.
I am planning to give my GMAT during Aug-Sept.
Please let me know my chances and an avg gmat score that I would need to get through ISBs.
Thanks
Seems like you have an interesting profile- present it well in the applications. Be clear about your achievements/ your career goals/ the need for an ISB MBA - especially when you get down to writing the essays.

7.5 years in product development, international work experience and strong extra-curricular are an obvious positive, but before I can comment on your chances I wish to know two things:
1) What are your post-MBA goals? Do you wish to move up the value chain in Product development or do you wish to test fresh waters?
2) What according to you are two differentiating factors in your profile, personal, professional, extra curricular. Say if you are compared with 150 other applicants who apply to ISB with same profile as yours, how would you stand out of them?
If you are planning to give GMAT in August then fine, but if in September it has to be earlier than 15th which is the ISB deadline, and then you have to work a lot on your essays on the side.

Yes there is a chance, and there are ways in which you can improve your chances. Although how can you improve them will depend upon the current spikes in your profile. Give me more information about what all have you been working on in your Business and what do you wish to do after your MBA and I can help you.
"Something technodriven" is not making much sense. Top Schools are very finicky about goal clarity. Perhaps you have not given it much thought, but there is time to do so. Let me help you with some ideas. In long term what is your vision for your career, do you wish to be a product director/architect who an industry visionary guiding new product development in technology sector? Do you wish to be a partner with a technology consulting firm which drives strategy level changes in technology centric organizations? I can name 10 more such ideas. But you need to start thinking on these lines. When you have some inkling of your long term goals you can derive your short term goals and how an MBA can help you, this is what ISB Essay 2 is about. On achievements front I think you are thinking on a right track.

As we understand you are in pre-sales but you are located in Dubai, do you face significant level of client interaction on a daily basis? Regarding GMAT, 710+ would be a great score for you, anything below that would make your position dicey.
