@Akshi11
Hi.. I am aiming to Join ISB in 2014-15 batch for which I will be giving GMAT in August. I have a work experience of around 3.5 years after completing my BE ( Chemical ) from Thapar University in 2009. Since then I am working in a startup . I am the part of the initial few members who started this venture which is now a good name among its clientele. Our main domains are Security System and Customized Softwares. I have some confusion regarding me experience in case of admission to ISB
@Akshi11 3.5 years of work exp. is sufficient to satisfy the work experience criteria. I would assume you have had a lot of learning in this phase, working on the venture, and infact, also making it profitable.
@Akshi11
1) How do they evaluate my skills of working in startup?
by what you tell them through your online resume section, essays and recommendations. Talk about your important skills over there.Look at the essay guidelines I have given for ISB.
Hi,The 2013 application season is coming closer and many of you applicants are getting down to writing essays. We at MBA Decoder would like to help you out by giving you guidelines to frame your essays.We start out with ISB and will keep providing you with essay frameworks for other b-sch...
@Akshi11@Akshi11
2) Shift from Chemical to IT
not an issue. Most undergrads don't land up working in their area of specialization during engineering.
@Akshi11
3) I managed almost everything from Marketing to HR to Accounts of the company in begining but slowly we managed a good team
That's great. Mention it in the application. As a start up has lesser number of employees, multitasking becomes a requirement. Just present this in an impressive way, because many times, applicants tend to make a hodge podge of their essays because they are trying to say too much.
@Akshi11
4) How should I show my experience?
I didn't get your question.
@Akshi11
5) I have been consistent in my qualification. 10th: 82%, 12th: 80%, BE: 8.26 CGPA
That's nice. Now work towards getting a nice GMAT, because it is going to be a very important score for the admissions.
@Akshi11
6) Is my experience enough for admission
yeah, refer to my comment above.
@Akshi11
7) How much should I target in GMAT
720+. As they say, sky is the limit! Though I think taking GMAT in August is a little late.
@Akshi11
My aim is to do MBA from top B Schools either IIMs or ISB but before that I wanted to gain ample work experience which I think I have achieved. As far as future is concerned I would love to see myself having an indepth knowledge of Marketing and maintaining my integrity by setting an example for other girls.
Wow, you are a girl! Good to see girls achieving so much π :).
Your work experience depends largely on what you have achieved so far- some people are able to do a lot of stuff in a short period of time. For them, the need for an MBA may come faster, because they are ready to take on newer challenges.
If you think you are ready to move to the next level, then you are ready to roll!
