Hi guys, I am going to apply to ISB for Ist time this year. Following is my brief profile:
work ex: 5 years in Analytics (Currently working with Amex as Assistant Manager)
B.Tech from NIT (7.14/10), 12th- 70%, GMAT:700 (2010)
I am not sure regarding the GMAT score, should I give it again?
How does my overall profile looks like for applying to ISB?
Thanks
Hi Guys, I want to do an MBA from ISB, I'm a 2013 passout, will start working with Musigma as a Business Analyst from the 1st week of August (Next Month). My profile is as follows-
10th- 87% (cbse)
12th- 84.8% (cbse)
B.Tech-Mechanical Engineering from SRM university- 9.70/10 (Department/University Topper)
Various Merit Based Scholarships
Conducted Extra Curicullar Activities in college, Played cricket at District, College levels.
Built(with a team of 24) a Formula One type Race Car which was tested at Buddh International Circuit, India
ISB has been my dream Institution, (alongside FMS
), so I had a few doubts...can some-one please clarify??
1. Is it better to write GMAT now itself, by the end of this year ?? As I will be able to score better as compared to when I will be working, as it will be a very hectic schedule from what I've heard.
2.If I do write This year, then will my chances of getting into ISB reduce? As I heard that GMAT scores more than 2 years are not preferred.
3.Does my Profile look good enough to make it to ISB (barring work experience).
And for the record, my ambition is to start my own venture in the Automotive Sector along with a friend ( I know its too soon to say this, but wrote it as I read a few expert comments, asking people to define their Ambitions, Roles etc π)
PS- I know its too long, but your comments and feedbacks will help me a lot πΌ
Hi,

Thanks,
Gagan

I am a Sr. Field Technical Consultant responsible for revenue targets for a state. How will my second attempt impact my over all chances? I know ISB considers best score but is the second score going to be a problem? 2. Will my 12th marks affect my chances of entry to these schools , this doubt really worries me.
3. Should I go for a specified amount of work ex to compensate for my poor marks in 12th. If yes , what sort of a company do you suggest me to work in ?(Heard that TCS is not going to make any difference to my profile )( I am interested in marketing )
4. Also can you please let me know in black and white , if I am being too ambitious for the sort of profile I have.
Thanks a lot for going through the whole message.your insight will be very very useful to me and will mean a lot . thanks again in advance
Answering your questions below:
1. I want to know where I stand profile wise , given the amount of competition for the top schools.
You have participated in a lot of extra curricular activities, which is a good thing. Keep up the trend even while you are working. If you are planning to apply in a few years, then you should also focus on earning yourself an above average career progression.
2. Will my 12th marks affect my chances of entry to these schools , this doubt really worries me.
no, they will not.
3. Should I go for a specified amount of work ex to compensate for my poor marks in 12th. If yes , what sort of a company do you suggest me to work in ?(Heard that TCS is not going to make any difference to my profile )( I am interested in marketing )
You don't need any compensation for 12th marks- you have come a long way since then. TCS is among the biggest recruiters in India, so from that perspective, there is no uniqueness in working about it. However, that does not matter- it is the quality of your personal work experience, that will make you stand out. So do good work while you are there - seek out opportunities to take up new projects and excel in them.
4. Also can you please let me know in black and white , if I am being too ambitious for the sort of profile I have. Thanks a lot for going through the whole message.your insight will be very very useful to me and will mean a lot . thanks again in advance
Its too early to worry so much. You are just at the start of your career. Your extra curricular achievements tell me that you are a dedicated person. Hopefully you will bring the same quality to your work environment and you will fare well over there as well.
All the best,

Hi puys,
Had some queries on the app process. Would appreciate your response here. Thanks.1. If I took GMAT last year, how do i send score to ISB now? Is there a separate process at pearson for this?
2. The photo that needs to be uploaded as part of the application: are there any specifications?
3. For online evaluation, is the evaluator sent the request right away? How do they receive the request from ISB - do they need to visit a page for the same or fill a form, scan and upload?

Hi.
Hi.My name is Amol and currently i am working in a leading pharma company in Ahmedabad as a scientist. I have current work experience of about 2.5 years. My profile stand as Xth - 63%, XII - 67%, B.tech Biotechnology - 73%, MS Cancer Research - 63%.
I am planning to apply for the ISB 2014-15 class and in Cycle 2 applicants. My question is that the last day to submit the application is 30th Nov. So that is is possible to give the exam by 10th November so that the scores can be send on the timely basis.
Also, i am planning to quit the job so that i can devote my full time in the preparation of the GMAT? do you think this is going to effect in any way ?
Any help and answers would be appreciated guys.
Thanks
1) Way to improve the profile
2) Leaving the job and prepare for the GMAT a good option ? Skip
β
1) Yes you can give exam by 10 Nov and apply to ISB.
2) Leaving the job is a bad idea as you may additionally have to explain why you left your job. Leaving job should be in conjunction with betterment of your career and a logical career choice.
3) In order to improve your profile you have to take on more leadership responsibilities. A team-lead role or a more client facing sales or delivery role helps. In your case try to get into a team-lead or a manager role.
