ISB Class of 2014 aspirants.

@ ashwin : yes R1 .. How about you ?

sudhir, need to give gmat yet man. what is your gmat score?

Hi,

I am a re-applicant for ISB. I wasnt planning to apply this year but decided to retract that decision. Anyways, I wanted to know if we need to re-write essays which are common with last year's essay topics? Aside from the minor changes that are required to strengthen the essays, would it be better to re-write the entire thing or to just fine tune the ones that were used last time?

its a 610.. All the best for your Gmat !!

@ @[170587:apster] : did u seek for a feedback on you rejection? what did the adcom say? A lot depends on that as well but if I were you I would re write essays focussing on past 1 yr and the learnings/ developments, unless things havent changed much ..

@[565359:sudhir3127]: I received my feedback. They said that the interview is where things went wrong. Otherwise the application was fine with a few places for adjustment. As this year I need to write the re-applicant essay as well as the video, i was wondering whether a complete overhaul of the common essay topics was required.

@ other re-applicants: What are you'll planning to do? Write the common essays from scratch or re-work the ones you submitted last year?

@rocky.b said: I have a query regarding my GMAT Score report. At the time of registering for my GMAT, I had filled my GPA as 1.5 out of 4 [ A 65.17% in Delhi University translates to this score if we strictly follow the scale mentioned by MBA.com).Now, here is my question:Does ISB look at the GPA in the GMAT report or would it look at my mark-sheets and make it's own assessment regarding my undergraduate performance? I think it's almost impossible to convert my undergraduate percentage into a scale of 4 since a lot of variables would be involved. Please correct me if I am wrong. The 1.5 out of 4 gives a very negative look to my GMAT report, which I feel is unwarranted. I just want to know whether I should be concerned about this issue or should I continue drafting my essays in peace!
You can modify your GMAT profile if you have not sent the scores yet.

I have a question. Perhaps people who took PGP counseling session can answer.

Is it more of a generic discussion or are you discussing every aspect of your profile? I understand we have to drive the discussion so there should be something concrete to discuss.

It is required to send the official score thru Pearson. Please read the answers to the FAQs 4, 7 and 8 on ISB website: http://www.isb.edu/pgp/FrequentlyAskedQuestions.Shtml#gmat

thanks.

How are people approaching the video essay? Yes, my question is reflective of 'what' to present and 'how' to present? Well, I got some clarifications on the content of the video essay, that is the informal approach to it and 'just be yourself' stuff...

What I am more interested in to know is how to capture the video? :)
Should it be with a normal digital camera, or a video recorder or will just my webcam do? :D
Also, does one require to dress formally (with a tie perhaps?) while capturing the video essay?

Please shed some light my dear puys..

well ill also like to know what is the opinion of others w.r.t video essay
Life to me is ...
How r u guys approaching it??
I know we need to be ourseleves and this has to be in conurrence to what we have written in other essays. But whenever i start to write i get confused...

You have to be yourself I believe. Essentially Adcom wants to see how articulate you are in communicating your ideas.

The video should be clear, that's about it. So if your WebCam does the job, sure go ahead. Capturing a high quality video will just increase the size of the file. Formal dressing would be advisable. check out some youtube videos on how to approach a video resume/essay.

@[170587:apster] @[565359:sudhir3127]Does a re-applicant has to send his/her scores again ( assuming he/she has not given the GMAT in the meantime)??

@amit_k4: Are you re-taking the gmat?

Once your scores are sent to ISB, they will have a record of it. So you do not have to re-send the scores. Just a keep a track of the date that the scores were sent to ISB and mention the appointment number. ISB will follow up.
If you have not sent the scores though, then do it soon. Your application is not considered complete until ISB receives the score report from pearson. The scores apparently reach ISB within a few days and not 2-3 weeks as stated in the gmat website..

@[284086:kushagra452] I think approx. Rs.22L-25L.

@[226026:rocky.b] Other MBA institutes suggest that the applicants explain the weakness, if the applicants wish to do so. Having said that, the institutes also suggest not to be overly defensive of it. In case if you decide to explain your low GPA then you will have to deal with it tactfully. Be more creative and less apprehensive about the same. hope this helps.

@[226026:rocky.b], why dont u check with Adcom?
