ISB CONNECT: Ask current ISB students

Dear ISB_CONNECT, my query is related to salaries. I understand that MBA is not for immediate monetary gains, however if I have to pay 30K EMI on educational loan in addition to my current housing loan EMI of 18k, then I do need to worry about it.

I have around 10yrs exp in IT. So is it reasonable to set a target of 20L post MBA? Do ppl with my exp get such salaries comfortably? I know 2009 was not a great year for placements, so can you give your reply with 2008 as reference

ISBthirsty,

While I understand your concern, the fact remains that the job you get post-ISB (or any other time for that matter) depends on multiple factors including your work-ex, capabilities etc. As such, its difficult for me to give you any 'reasonable' range.

Of course, one thing I can refer you to is the average placement statistics from previous years. The disclaimer of course is that each individual is unique and thats the reason this is an average.

Even for 2009, the average CTC for someone with 8+ years workex was 19.61L (Vs 26.5L in 08 ), while the average multiple of outgoing Vs Incoming salaries for people with an IT background was 2.08.

For more information, please refer to http://www.isb.edu/pgp/Placement_Highlights.Shtml
You can refer navigate to data given for previous years (including 08 ) from this page as well as other information including industry breakups etc. There are links on the top as well as the left side of the page for both of these.

There is also a Senior Executives Club in ISB for those with 8+ years of work-ex who organise various events/industry interactions etc.

Thanks

Also will ISB have someone from the same industry in the interview panel for my interview ?

ISB Connect,
have a question regarding placements this year. I know you can't say much...but can you give us a general direction? Is the general trend like last year, or better or worse?

Thanks!

Dear ISB CONNECT.

I would like to thank you for this informative thread. I am a computer science engineer. I have been managing my family business since the last 7 years.
I wish to know that what share of student profile is composed of people with their family business/ own bussinesses. How can I get in touch with some of such students.
Are self employed students at a disadvantage in an environment where most of the students aim at service oriented opportunities?

Thanks,
Manish.

Hello All,

I am a permanent resident of Canada for approx. 5 yrs and need help with the following issue:

I scored 660 in my GMAT and have been working in logistics field for approx. 4 yrs. I did my undergrads in Economics from Hindu College, Delhi University. After that I did a Post Graduate Diploma in International Business from Sheridan College, Canada.

So, I would request all to please let me know what would be my chances of getting an interview call from ISB.

Also, I should be getting Canadian Citizenship soon, so would like to know if there are any seats for foreign nationals or are they treated at par with everyone else.

Also, please let me know if I should try to improve my GMAT or if my current score should be sufficient.

Any feedback would be highly appreciated...

Thanks

Hii Seniors,

This is my first post in this column of ISB ;)

Anyways i have a lil doubt reg d admission process as per my profile.

I am a B.tech 2008 passout graduate & currently working in an MNC as an application developer. In total i have 9months (I started working from May2009....prior to that was waiting my joining & did few certifications) of experience by far. I am planning to write GMAT somewhere in JULY or AUG & apply for ISB. Am i eligible enough to apply for ISB as per my work experience count? I am pretty sure to score well on GMAT though. But i am sceptical about my eligibility. I have haeard people saying that ISB accepts people even with less than 2 yrs of exp....so could u please help clearify this doubt of mine?

Thanks..!!!

Hi isb folks, I am admitted to isb class of '11 and have also got calls from IIMs. I want to connect with people in ISB who were in the same boat as mine and decided to dump IIM for ISB. Can anyone point to such contacts?

Thx

Hi ISB Connect,
Congrats and thanks for starting this thread and appreciate your sincere efforts to help out ISB aspirants.

I've few specific questions on the post MBA statistics:

1) For ERP professionals[ERP/SAP Consultants] with 5 or 5+ yrs of exp-- what are the variation of roles being offered in this season? last season data also would be good enough.
2) Are they being any strategic roles like in a non-IT org offering them ERP lead roles ?
3) Salary range statistics? and any international placements?

Regards,
Idiot.[ IIM-Indian IT Male].

for class of 2012 you should have at least 2 years of work-ex on 1 april 2011. in past there were few instances of people less than 2 year making it but there were no case for class of 09 and 2010.

there is a senior executive club at ISB which cater to especial requirements of people having more than 8 years of experience. and generally people from this club command good salaries.

Hi ISB Connect,

I have 10 years of cumulative work experience with 9 years in education test prep domain. I have handled various assignments relating to starting branches from scratch and designing, establishing and promoting education and test prep products. I have worked all these 9 years with only one organization that has grown well since 2001 when i joined it. I am reporting to the CEO here and I'm sure if he writes, he would attribute the success of multiple projects to my credit.

My academics have also been good in a way that i was ranked 3rd in the university for my bachelors in Technology in Industrial Engg.

I am aiming for 2011 admissions. My GMAT score is 660 (given very recently, Q42 - i was consistently scoring 48 in practice tests, V38 ) and i have proposed GMAC to send my GMAT scores to ISB.

Would you please guide me on what should be my plan of action as regards GMAT Score... whether to apply with the existing score or improve it before the regular deadline of Sept 2010 for application.

Please reply soon so that i can have a contingency plan.

Aric
